I'm getting ready to rebuild my (polk style) box beams that have become my one and only workbench. Since I don't
do much pounding and chiseling anymore, I plan on using 1/2" ply for the tops as well as the sides. And then laminate the top with formica for a glue proof surface during assembly.
However, I still want to be able to use my clamping elements on the thinner bench tops.
So I wend into Fusion360 and designed a 1/4" spacer that could be used under the top that would allow the clamping element knob to still tighten correctly.
Just got them from Shapeways.com today, here are a couple pics, they work perfectly!
If anyone is interested let me know and I can make them available for purchase at Shapeways.
