This is the top  of a   bench I'm building. Being a hobbyist  I don't have a large collection  of clamps (4) so I improvised  by using  these  concrete shuttering  tie bars  and wing nuts  which I use at work.
Not very conventional  to what some of you guys will be used  too  and not very pretty   but they worked  well  and quite cheap  to purchase.  An incredible clamping pressure  can be applied.

nothing wrong with that.
we all cant afford or justify a whole wall of clamps.
those shuttering tie bars are great.
i often used them on large pans doing slatted tanks on my uncles farm./
if it can pull in a 8x4 foot shutter and hold it there with tons of concrete inside then it will easily hold a bit of timber
