Cleanest way to cut festool hose

Have a new Kapex and have a 3m (I think) antistatic 50mm->36mm hose being used between the dust collector and the table saw top dust collector port. I'm going to cut it in approximately 1/3 + 2/3 and fasten new connectors so I can use one from the Kapex to the midi and keep the other from the dust collector port to the tablesaw.

So, my question - what's the best way to cut the festool hose so that I have a clean cut and can use the festool connectors? Not sure if a grinder with a thin blade on it will work or will melt it.  Handsaw?

Normally, I'd not think twice and just hack it in half, but given the high price of the hose, I'd rather get it right the first try.

Thanks!

At the shop we just slice it with a utility knife.  Follow one of the "spirals", then just cut the little connecting piece when you've made it all the way around.

Kapex, just make sure a different hose is connected for dust collection. [big grin]

I always cut my hoses with a mitre saw - apart from when I used a very sharp kitchen knife lubed with detergent. Worked very well.

Couldn't do that. My bandsaw only has nine inch throat and the hose is over twelve feet long.

I have problems storing the hose, too. There's nowhere to put the box I made for it - it's only three inches square but it's nearly thirteen feet long. I have to take the tool end and the vac adapter off first, obviously.

Make sure its a festool utility knife or you will void your warranty on the hose.
