So I have a Fuji gxpc and a Apollo 7500 gun. Both have the 3m pps system installed. I have only sprayed Duralaq undercoater so far. The clean up is not as easy as I had hoped. I removed the pps cup and immediately ran water through the adapter. I did get water to flow through the tip fine. However there was still lots of finish in the adaptor and the gun. I also ran lacquer thinner through adapter and gun. Again flowing fine out of tip, but finish still in a lot of crevices. So I had to take the guns completely apart to clean. Am I missing something here? Am I just too OCD? I mean, I like to do things 100% right. And to me the finish left in those crevices doesn't seem right. How are you guys with the pps system cleaning your guns? Is it just the Duralaq that is the issue? This stuff does dry very fast.

The data sheet from Lenmar says the following about cleanup: Use distilled water immediately and flush system with isopropyl alcohol or a blend of water and butyl cellosolve.

Duralaq is a polyureathane based paint and is very tough. Acrylic paint such as Kem Aqua sticks to the inside of my gun as well. Every now and then you need to break them ( the guns, fluid lines etc.) down and do a thorough cleanning. Sometimes it's a pain and sometimes it's theraputic.

Tim,
Are you spraying that cleaner through the gun with the pps system or are you taking the gun apart to rinse it? Curious as I haven’t found using the pps system to power distilled water or cleaning agents to work that well even when using water based finishes.

Keep it coming. Tom I have a full cleaning kit and got the guns cleaned up fine (taking them apart). Tim where are you buying that kleen-again product? I really think it is the Duralaq causing most of the problem. This stuff is very hard/durable. Which is good and bad.

I check the cap set and various parts after every spray to make sure holes are clear etc. After a few sessions or if I see a build up, I will use a cheap bristle brush and paint the line and gun remover into the parts let it sit for a 10-15 seconds and use my gun kit brushes to scrub and rinse off. This usually removes a majority of the stuck on bits.

Kleen again will remove Duralaq or polyuerathane based finishes from your gun, you may have to soak it in the cleaner or go over it repeatedly but it will remove it.
I am sure there are other simalar products and have used the ML Campbell water borne gun and line cleaner but I don't find it as effective, or rather as quick acting.

My go to primer/sealer is Duralaq undercoater and I have never had any issues cleaning my T70 or T75, both with PPS adapters, with warm water. Now, I do clean the gun within a couple of minutes after the spraying session. I do use the cleaning kit vigorously, thank goodness for spell check. Vigorously is a word I haven't used in 30 years.
Also with their clear topcoat, never any issues.
Don't let you gun sit around. Clean it as soon as you are done. Which is what I do.
Both my guns are clean as a whistle, minus the spit.

Thanks for the response. I’ve been using distilled water spraying with a bottle into the gun. It works alright but is a pain. I’ll have to try using warm water from my deep sink to see if it works better. I tend to go back and forth between multiple colors sometimes and it becomes a pain.

Update to issue. Actually a little embarrassing. I told the gentleman at BM I wanted the WB Duralaq. What I received was the lacquer version. Now I take full responsibility for the mistake because I should have checked what I received. I guess I was too excited about getting my new Mini Mite and was looking to get spraying [blink]. Anyway I had to order the WB Duralaq because they only carried the lacquer version. Well after spraying the new stuff and cleaning the gun it was night and day easier to clean! It cleans up with water like it should. Just wanted to update the thread so others reading in the future aren't scared off. On a side note, I really like how fast this stuff dries. I have noticed you do have to apply a fairly wet coat to get good results.
