Hello everyone,
I'm looking to upgrade my very old mini that has served me extremely well for years and add another extractor to my shop as we're growing. I like the specs on the CT36E AC but see that's  it's listed for a Planex. Does anyone here use it for smaller sanders, dominos, track saws, etc.? If you do, what's been your experience or would you recommend another model?
Thanks,

Eddy

The 36 AC and 48 AC are listed for the Planex because of the auto-clean feature to help with drywall dust caking.

I've been quite pleased with my CT-26; not terribly bigger than the MIDI, fits the Workcenter, handle set available...

Depending on your portability needs, a 26 or 36 would probably be fine.  If you're worried about bag size, a cyclone (Festool's or someone else's) can be added to help separate the majority out of the air stream at the expense of some suction.  If you're only using them on Dominos and non-Kapex items, the loss of suction shouldn't be a big concern.

Hi, we use it for everything drywall and woodworking, we use both plastic and cloth bags@$50 per5,use adapter768135 for 27mm ports using planex hose. That said when it wears into(starting to show wear after 1.5 yrs) will replace with new 36 mm.suction on all 27 mm ports was greatly improved. can't go wrong it's a all in one. guy

I have two CT 36s, one AC and one non-AC. Previously, the AC could only actually autoclean a non-HEPA filter, so I would swap for an autoclean filter and plastic bags for drywall and then put in a normal HEPA filter with cloth bags for normal wood and construction dust. Now, they have a HEPA filter that can be used with the autoclean feature so that you don't have to change the filters back and forth, plus it can be used for concrete work now as well.

Essentially, if you don't need the extractor for drywall or concrete dust, save yourself the money and go with a regular. If you do see a need for both, you can swap filters/bags to meet your needs for wood and construction dust too.

ME TOO! Like exactly. I still have the old style filter in my CT36AC so I swap in a HEPA filter when cutting/sanding wood, along with the white dust bag. I use the heck out of the thumper but I do own a Planex and often work with concrete.

The AC is also going to come with the Planex hose.  If you have or plan on a Planex, then Great.  If I was talking to my younger self I would tell me to go ahead and get the AC now and be covered for the future.  If life has taught me anything is to plan for the unexpected.  If your older and dead set you will never pick up a PLanex then skip the AC.  If your younger with lots of years ahead of you in the trades then get the AC now and be done.  I use my CT36AC with plenty of small tools. sanders, saws, etc.  works perfect so no issues there.  You will need a tool hose so that ups the cost even more.  If you are on a budget or use a bunch of different brand tools Dewalt, Makita, Milwaukee etc. check out the Cen-tec hose it will fit everything.
