Cleantex or midi ?

I'm torn between the cleantex and the midi. I'm a carpenter and generally work in new builds using my router lightly and mitre saw and planer most days. Anyone in a similar position used either and happy with either of them for it ?

I guess you mean the C.T.L.26. If producing a lot of waste then the 26 will have an advantage with capacity but for lighter work as you mention, the MIDI would be ok.

If you use the planer a lot you might want to look at a long life bag for your arsenal.  The bag is designed primarily for chips and tools that create chips that can be emptied without all the dust.  Pricey?  Yes.  But might have a return on your investment.

To me the mini and midi suit sanding and the KAPEX best, any other activity will produce too much waste very quickly!

I have the midi. i regret not buying the ct26 instead. the boom arm attachment is something i have really wanted. you can't attach the boom arm to neither the mini nor midi. it's a lot of money for all this gear, but well worth it in my opinion. also, the ct26 is slightly more powerful than the midi. suction power is very important.

I have a CT26, and it works well.

Sanding differs from tools that make chips.
Some dust deputy cyclonic stage between the vacuum and the tool would remove the bulk big chips.
And you could remove the DD for sanding or when you are doing less work "on site".

That approach may be optimal.
(Either approach makes sense - so there not a bad choice)

It may be worth enquiring about hoses as running the larger diameter hoses could be more important than the vacuum for the router and the mitre saw??

Buy the mini. With the saved money also buy the DD-Festool. It will spin 99% of the waste into its own bin. The unit sits on top of the mini and locks on via the systainer clips. The mini has the same motor as the 26. It pulls 3900 litres a minute. Then you have the option disconnecting the cyclone if you need a light vac when up and down stairs. The added advantage is that if hardly any dust is entering your festool vac, it performs better due to clean "lungs" (bag and filter). The other is you save a heap on bags. I am pretty sure you can buy hepa filters for the mini as well which makes it an M class vac.

I have the Midi and it suits me well.
Thought the Mini was a bit small and didn't want to go for the CTL.
I will buy a Dust Deputy soon I hope
To solve the large chips issue.

Hi Keal,

Unless I'm mistaken, I remember a tech guy from Festool telling me the Midi and CTL shared the same motor.
If you have to vacuum large chips, you can also put the reusable Festool  large bag in the Midi.

It's a good option when you can bring a Dust Deputy along with you on site

I got a ct26 to use on site and in workshop but since bought a midi to keep in van and the ct26 stays in workshop. The ct26 is portable but heavy when full and a pain on stairs, the midi feels mini in comparison.
