I am having difficulty keeping the vacuum hose attached to the eliptical shaped plastic part (guard)  at the top of the table saw module.

Does anyone have any tips, I am using the split hose that I bought as an extra. (CS 70 AB)

It has two size hoses, believe I use the large diameter hose on the oval part on top of the module and the smaller one below on the TS 55.

Thanks

Venk

I use the split hose the other way around, 27 mm on top and 36 mm on the bottom. Have you tried that? That's how it's meant to be. The 27 mm is meant to be on top.

But I don't get it, I just tried to fit the 36 mm over the blade guard inlet, and it fits extremely tight. I had trouble getting the nozzle over the inlet and trouble again removing it. How can yours be sloppy? But if it is, just get a new nozzle, you can order them separately.

[embarassed]  Thanks Alex, now I look at the image on a web site of the split hose I see the smaller diameter hose going to the blade guard inlet.
I think I have it fixed:

and of course now the little hose holder on the side works!!

As for the struggles with the 36mm, it does fit tightly and is hard to get on, but I found that when the blade guard tipped it might slip.  Anyway will use it properly now.

THANKS for the advice.

Venk

Your welcome Venk, always glad to help out a fellow Festoolian.

This post makes it clear that pictures can be very important. I didn't understand why your hose didn't fit well, but now I do know: there's something missing. Seems the previous owner of your CMS was a little creative with your blade guard and cut off a piece of the inlet. Perhaps to make it better fit his dust collection equipment. In the picture below you can see how it is supposed to look.

And yes indeed, now you know what the little clip on the side is for.  [smile]

Alex,

There's nothing wrong with Venk's guard on the cms and no-one has cut it off!. Unless I'm mistaken your precisio guard is different, that's all. The trick with the cms is to force the small hose in tight into the oval.

Nigel is correct.
I just checked my CMS. The CMS and Precisio are not the same design.
But having now seen the Precisio design, I wish my CMS housing was designed like your Precisio housing Alex!

You have to force the 27mm hose into the clear plastic housing about 10mm - 12mm.
Venk's photo only shows the hose inside the clear plastic housing about 5mm.

I suggest you push it in a bit deeper......

Starting to think ...

Maybe the CMS isn't the best table saw option - even though it's space efficient in a modular sense - but not a money sense or an effectiveness sense.

Maybe the Precisio isn't the best table saw option - as it'll cost me more in Oz than a high precision panel saw with all of the bells and whistles.

Oh CRAP!!! The Festools do collapse into something that looks like a complex ironing board stuck behind the door - wife safe and space friendly.

.......

For us guys that leverage a multipurpose garage, storeroom, hobby room, etc space as their workshop - the CMS makes massive sense. The rack with all the modules takes up the space of a take cupboard.

God I'm confused!

Aye, that's emberrassing ... I thought they were the same. My bad.  [embarassed]

Pretty stupid design then on the CMS if you ask me. Wouldn't have expected this from Festool. What's the harm of putting a couple of extra centimeters on it to make life easy for the CMS owner?

You can always order the Precisio one as a spare part. I think it should fit, or have they changed the M6 screw also to a smaller one?

They're designed to be mobile.

Look at it this way.

The cms might not be the very best table saw option. However if you would like a good quality-ultra mobile table saw, router table/mini spindle moulder, jigsaw and possibly even belt sander ,all in a lightweight space efficient package, well there is nothing else comes even close.

True - but the form factor being compact is the important thing for me. Even if I go for modules hanging off the MFT/3, I suppose I can see how I go with the module for te saw ... Then either stick with it or make some space ... Going Precisio or other later.

You're right there - I'll never have "big shop" space ... But it's just so simple when your machines are always ready to use. My problem is simply space - I need a TARDIS !

No worries Alex, I have learned from my mix-up, have to say though that the precisio does look even better designed, not only is the plastic part longer but also I noted the scale on the rife knife.

Kev,  I have to admit that once my Toylander project is over my wife wants her garage back, so with a combination of MFT, CMS and a jaw horse with plywood jaws I believe I will be able to put most of my gear away soon.

I have some gladiator gear tracks on my walls in my garage, I have found that the gladiator storage bin holders work perfectly for storing my three CMS modules.
.  Each storage bin holder is rated to 25 lbs which I think is adequate for the module with the tool still attached

Even though I could have picked up a good table saw and a good router table in the USA, the portability was what sold me on the CMS system.  I can fold it away and leave a much smaller footprint.

Glad my question triggered such discussion, I appreciate everyones help from all over the world.
