I am going to order a CMS and wondered if Festool has a ring to accept a Leigh eccentric guide bushing so I can use my RTJ 400 jig?  That would be handy if they did but I'm not holding my breath.

Howard,

Are you asking if one of the inserts for the CMS is sized to fit a standard sized guide bushing?

Yes, Peter.  I have the guide bushing adapter for the router that accepts the Porter Cable bushing I used with my Leigh super jig but don't I need a CMS ring for that Porter cable bushing to use with the table?  It needs to be stationary so the bit can be moved up and down to the correct height above the table.

Howard. I tried to wrap my head about using the CMS and the Leigh jig but thought it would be a futile attempt. I really like my Incra setup and it works a treat once you get used to it. Honestly, if I wanted to do a Leigh jig, I would bring the router to the work piece, not the older way around. If you are going with the CMS VL, seriously check out my threads on my Incra setup. If I had to do a lot of dovetails, I would get a second router to keep the two depths set for a fast workflow.

Even without two routers I can get setup and cut half blinds and through tails pretty quick (for a hobby boi)

Cheers. Bryan.

I see what you're asking now. I'm not sure this is going to work for you.

The router base is fixed to the bottom of the CMS plate and so most copy rings aren't long enough to even protrude above the table. The copy ring isn't attached to the table, it stays on the router. The plastic rings for the CMS are specific to the opening on the router and then the smaller rings just decrease the opening around a bit for improved safety and dust control.

There is also no easy way to ensure that the CMS rings are exactly concentric with the router cutter so even if you could mount the copy ring on a CMS ring it may not be a practical idea.
