Shane,

Is the base unit available for sale in the US or is this an EKAT order?

I am planning on buying the CMS-VL for stationary use initially but would like to have the flexibility at some point. I don't want to buy a second fully loaded CMS-GE unit.

Well I guess I gonna bring one over from Germany and replace the switch.

The CMS-OF insert is possibly the only thing you wouldn't want in a CMS setup if you already have a router table setup and want to leverage a track saw, etc.

The CMS-OF module is quite valuable if you were to list and ship internationally with a reasonable shipping rate!

My plan would be to buy it in Germany and bring the box back with my on a flight. Shouldn't be an issue considering what I have already seen coming out the baggage claim carousel in JFK/EWR over the years.....

Although I understand the rational not to offer the base unit on a standalone basis in thenUS due to the lack of NANIA inserts people like me might want to use the VL stationary and drop the router insert in the GE unit for mobile work.

Shane, maybe Festool could reconsider?

I guess you could order all the parts of the base unit via EKAT. Comes out to roughly $900 which based on an fx rate of 1.35 equals EURO 670, which is roughly 200 EURO more than the price in Germany.

Worth the effort of playing the. UPS Air man....

I'm in a similar boat.  [crying]

I want the VL ext. table for a specific setup I run and thought I'd buy another CMS and sell the CMS OF module separately.  Put an add in Classifieds to see if it could work and got little action.

Only other advantage to going through the hassle of importing is that you can add the fence.  The solid fence has some advantages in different setups.

There are people who will buy the insert here. It is easy enough to make a cutout in a solid surface to adopt the plate.

Cheers. Bryan

Gotta figure put the economics based on the price differential. Might do that eventually. Thx for the input.

That's interesting as I tried Amazon.de and they will not ship into the US, same with all the Online stores in Germany. Yes I am a happy Prime member.... I will check it out. Thx for pointing me in this direction.

I never said anything about free. You do need to have prime in order for it to show up.

Or I just buy both the CMS-VL and eventually the CMS-GE. I guess if you use mirror router bits you could set both bits up and cut pieces one after the other without the need to switch....

Would you have a full TS75 based table saw if you were to buy the CMS-TS 75 and the CMS-GE GB 110V Basic Unit?

My mistake. i was not logged on to prime to see that option.  Still not clear how much shipping would be since they only talk about books, dvd and such items.

Well, the CMS-OF insert works with all Festool routers - to my understanding even the one thats delivered in the US has the plastic rings for th OF2200 included. Its only hiccup is that apparently the US version of the CMS-GE base has a power switch that isn't rated for high enough current to get UL approval to attach the OF2200 to it there with its max power draw of 2200W.

The insert itself is just a piece of aluminium and some screw holes for the clamps & fences.

I just order the CMS-GE GB 110V along with the CMS-OF and CMS-TS75 module .Will the CMS-GE GB 110V supply enough power to be use with the 2200 router ?
