I picked up a CMS-GE Router Table Set (P00111 ) this morning and had to make 2 return trips; one their fault, the second mine i guess.

The main box is MASSIVE! My wife had our truck so I had everything taken out of the box and placed into my vehicle (i did remember to cut all of the UPC stickers off of the main box. The table extension and sliding table were in separate boxes. We thought we had everything and were good. Once I got home and took inventory i realized that I did not have my hose assembly so off I went back to the retailer who promptly gave me the dust collection hose assembly box.

I could have sworn that the mitre gague was in one of the boxes I had, but alas, I got everything set up and aligned and turned to look for the mitre gague assembly and realized it too was missing. So back I went.

Not sure if this was a shipping issue or the retailer just not being familiar enough with the configuration of the new product (what im guessing). I have spent way more $$$ than I like to think of on Festool products over the last 3 years and have never had a single part missing. my point here isnt a complaint or rant, just a PSA that if you buy one of these sets, look at the label on the big box and make sure that you have EVERYTHING listed on it before you leave the store.

Now to break this baby in. assembly put a smile on my face, i cant wait to see it in action.

i should also note that the main box was sealed when they brought it out. im guessing the other boxes ship along side the main?

If you get the CMS-GE Set, it comes in a box that is about 48" x 38" x 25" and weighs close to 100#. Inside it are several boxes...
  • table
  • OF unit (router plate)
  • fence
  • slider
  • table extension
  • miter gauge
  • hose set

Tom

Thanks Tom! Thats the box. The mitre gague and hose set boxes weren't in mine but were in their warehouse. I know they opened it in front of me with a packing knife. Maybe they had opened it previously to check contents and resealed it without putting those items back. No real harm done, I couldnt be happier with the CMS!

I think my UPS guy hates me. He said to me once that if it's big and heavy I know it's coming here.....

I'm going to have to cough up a good Christmas tip this year.

why would you tip the delivery guy. what did he do that was obave and beyond his daily duties.
maybe iff he carried it in for you

Make someone feel good and put a smile on their face?  Why not.

Also, from a selfish stand point, that $10-$20 could mean all your packages are personally attended to and taken care of with a watchful eye, not left out, carried inside, etc.  For some that may be worth it.  I don't blame him.

Every year on Christmas we will give $100 to our UPS driver as a sense of gratitude for what he does.  As a result, when we have to ship something on a specific day ( deadline or else) and can't make it till 2 pm ( when UPS shows up) we can always ask him to come later around 5 pm. This keeps our customers happy since they get their purchase delivered sooner. Our business is happy to see customers happier, and UPS driver got some cash for Christmas presents or else.

Everybody wins!  [smile]

i think something is getting lost across the pond.
i am presuming your ups driver is like our parcel delivery guys. you could get anyone,. i dont think i have ever got the same person deliver more than twice.
i presume that your system is more like  our normal postal system where the the same person delivers an area and you know them personally and regularly stop for a chat.
years ago everybody gave the postman /woman a present at christmas. now its not done so much because all we ever get in the post now is bills and firlighters

Maybe that is a difference. You guys definitely miss out without such personal approach. Our UPS delivery guy works with us for over 6 years. The only time when other person comes is when our guy takes a vacation. Even though, because of our relationship, he arranges for another driver working while he is gone also to pick up packages later if needed. Same is with TNT company (which are being bought by UPS I have found out recently).

Got mine today, things to note mine came with the extra rings for the OF2200 Yahoo! Crank handle is missing for the router lift (rep is getting another I hope). The threaded rod part number 485667 that goes into the curved guard for the start guide is toooo short! threaded rod only measures M6x97mm should be M6x111mm. (rep is looking for rod or I can go buy one.  Guess I got a Euro kit? Got all assembled and running and the dust collection is awesome.

thx

That part clips to your MFT/3 or CMS v-channel to hold the vac hose. However, it is not needed with the CMS table setup.

Where is the dealer in Columbia? I do some work in Clarksville and wouldn't mind finding a dealer with parking or parking lot. Annapolis has one but parking with a trailer or just parking in general is a pita. Congrats on the new purchase neighbor  [smile]

Unfortunately not in Columbia. I went to Towson (you can probably guess). Thanks neighbor!

I have a job in Towson in about 3 weeks  [sad] maybe I can check them out  [smile]. Nice to see some people close buy using Festools  [big grin] Howdy Neighbor  [thumbs up]

Let me know if you ever want to swing by and check it out. I'm a evening/late night/weekend woodworker with a day job but I'd be happy to let you run the cms for a bit and talk Festool.
