CMS GE vs. CMS VL - help me decide..

Teaser ;)

And a couple of what i use the tools for.

Project is nothing special and greatly limited with regard to layout and design based soley on those dam utilty boxes and very practical storage needs vrs. aesthetic.....

Project is far from done. The far wall will get laminated left to right with more birch ply. A shelf that holds yoga mats will run left to right under the utilities on the far wall. The two utility boxes behind the white wall now sheathed in plywood will have frameless access panels on magnetic catches..

More to come, the CMS is half together and Kapex is open but only so i could peak into the box. I have quite a bit of work ahead of me as the Kapex is going into a built in bench setup that presently has my Dewalt in it but needs to be modified snd i have to finish the project in the photos in the next couple weeks...

Looks like a warm and friendly enviroment for the Festools..

Congrats on your new setup, go slow and enjoy the learning curve I'm sure with so many new tools at once it is going to be steep!

Thats a yoga studio or at least the props storage area of a yoga studio..

This is my new tools new home. Kinda a tool explosion at the moment. Sure it will be all neat and tidy this time tomorrow ;)

I also just ordered a LS system for a MFT.  They initially quoted a 1.5 week shipping delay due to manufacturing... but the order shipped in only 2 days!  You should get it soon!

Thanks Pref:

Started retrofitting my old miter station that housed my Dewalt miter saw for the new Kapex...

My basement or workshop had a a bunch of random built in cabinets from the original owner. Actually much of the cabinets where once the original kitchen cabinets. The original owner built the house from a old Sears catalog kit home. Its a bungalow built in 1926. For its age it in pristine condition original trim never painted and only looks maybe ten years old. You can drop a marble anywhere in the house and its not going anywhere. The original owner was a wonderful carpenter and did things the right way, he was not a corner cutter much like myself. Being this i take pride in his work and have a hard time altering what he created. Anytime o do something to the house i try to take into consideration what he would think if he was still alive and if he would approve. I do my best to respect what he built and of he is looking down that he might like what he sees vrs. Cringe..

Anyway point is when i decided to star building a proper wood shop of my own i did not have the heart to just rip everything out and start new. In some ways for space and layout it would had made much more sense and i was tempted. I didn't have the heart so i began the retrofit.

For instance the now miter station was nothing more than a couple shelfs built out of old pine and painted. The top was 3/4 plywood topped with hardboard. The hardboard top was no longer flat. I did not want to rip it all out because i felt bad ruining what was once another mans workshop. It also just fit the house and i was scared to change to much and make it all modern and plastic. So i decided i would leave much of the layout just a it was with regard to the built in cabinets and make them functional again. Mostly i have rebuilt the counters so they are level and flat. I also decided to divide the storage up underneath the cabinets to neatly store my tools i a organized manner. I also decided to face a bunch of the existing counters off with woods i like. When its all done it will be all be a combo of mahogany, curly maple, bridseye maple and walnut.

Anyway its far from done. Ill keep you all up to date as it progresses now that i have a account.

I think Im gonna widen the opening in the miter station and add crown stops so i can get full use of the saw without having to make a shelf that pulls out, chop corners out of my counters or just mount the saw way out in the middle of the room. Kinda bummed as its another $200 i would rather not spend at the moment. Being its permanent though ill be glad i did it the right way after the money is spent and my bank account recovers from this binge...

Hej! I've been away in another interest area, but returning here to se the results of your workshop set up. It good Iceclimber very good. Nice that you kept the original cabinets, there's a nice atmosphere, high class retro.

I wonder how are you getting along with your CMS router table, was it a good investment when held up to your planned uses?

I'm seriously lining up my sights on the CMS GE with router insert, I'll go with the 2200 set here, it's a great savings over buying the different elements separately.

Though I pretty sure it's more expensive here. USA gets speciel treatment, because well, there nice is all I can figure it out as being
