Hi
I'm considering getting the CMS with the OF1400 and router module..
I can't afford to get a seperate second handheld so will need to dismount the router for hand and guide rail work.
My question is how easy and quick is it to de-mount and re-mount the router from the module?
Also is the 1400 up to the task of router table use - would prefer a fixed 2200 and seperate 1010 but just can't justify the cost so the of1400 is a comprimise.
Also will the UG extension arm as used with the Kapex fit with the CMS and work as an outfeed support table?
Thanks
Tim

i have the cms of 1400 for the exact same reasons.
basically, the procedure to mount it (once u have it set up for the first time, u can leave the screws under the module plate, and only loosen them to unmount the router) is really quickly done.
1: plunge the router full depth and lock it
2: turn over the module plate
3: put in the centering plastic ring
4: attach (wing nut) a tiny metal piec to the router
5: place the router on the module plate
6: tighten 3 wing nuts and unlock the router depth adjustment
7: turn over the module and insert it in the cms-ge
this takes about 1 minute. you will be able to do it even quicker when you have done it a few times.
mounting the fence or the protection thingy (see-through plastic bowl that you can adjust in heighth to protect you from touching the router bit when using bearing bits) are attached in less than 30 seconds.

of course it would be much more comfortable to have a dedicated table router, but the cms-of is a great solution if you dont want to afford two routers.
you could of course afford a second one if you build your router table yourself rather than paying a fortune for the cms-ge and the cms-of.

one thing i really dont like about the cms is, that you cant clamp easily to the cms-ge.

i use my mft as an outfeed table. they are both 900mm high.

Swapping out the router gets quicker with practice, I use an OF2200.
The Kapex UG extensions work great for infeed and out feed supports for long stock like door stiles.
You can just see them in this pic.

Hi
Thanks for the replies..
Rob that looks like a nice set-up. Is that a spindle block I see in the OF 2200? How did you cut those tenons - did you use the slider on the CMS?

Thanks again
Tim

Tim, it is a four wing router bit, two blades upshear and two blades down shear, sold as a tenoning cutter.
I roughed out the tenons first with the Kapex then used the sliding table and fence to get them to size,
That cutter is also great for big rebates. Here's a shot of that set up.
