CMS OF insert not square

So I have used my CMS table for jointing hundreds of times. Actually it is the main function I have used that table for. Nine out of ten times I have my 3/4 x 2" straight cut bit in there with the fences set to joint. Yesterday I did a nifty experiment of which was faster my track saw or table saw and jointing. So I was setting my CMS table up to joint since it is my favorite thing to joint with and it is so easy and dust free. I got it set up and quickly realized that the bit wasn't square wih the table. So I took my router out of it and messed wh it getting debris out resetting the router into the table etc. it still kept coming out unsquare. It was less by the last time and was withing a tolerance of being able to use it for what I was doing but would not have been good enough for edge glueing.

Has anyone else had this issue. Please help I don't know what's going on but it does not seem to be a good thing. My CMS table is my most useful tool and I cannot be without it right now. I have far to many jobs I am going to use it for in the next two weeks.

For a quick fix, I would leave the router in place and shim the table until it is square with the bit using blue masking tape.

Hard to diagnose the actual problem without seeing it.

Unfortunately I don't have time to mess with it right now. I have a list of projects that are all supposed to be done by Friday and it's like 3 weeks with of work. I also don't want to or feel like I should have to shim a $1600 table. And it's about a 1/16" off over a 2" bit

Reading your post, I'm not sure if it's the fence not perpendicular to the table, the router not perpendicular to the table or the insert itself.

If it's the fence, there is adjustment to make it perpendicular to the insert.

How "off" is it Tyler?  1 deg, 5 deg?

A few things to check...

-Is the bit square to the base plate of the 1400?
-When you clamp the router to the plate, did one of the hold downs lift the other edge of the router?
-Is the "foot" that attaches to the router for centering on the right side?  It has a pin for the 1400 and 1010.
-Like others have said, is the fence the issue instead?

Let us know when you get to it to check out...  Very curious here, I have never had an issue with this. To be honest, I have never jointed with my CMS, so I have never checked!  I am going to do so today though.

It is the router bit not square to the table top. Yesterday I was to busy to take it out and mess with it so it sits the way it is. I am also curious about another thing, does anyone else's CMS vibrate under operation with let's say a quarter round bit in. I am only curious because the router runs completely vibration free out of he table. Also I checked the bit to he router plate and it was perfect so the table is the unsquare factor. I think it might have something to do with the centering ring possibly I'll mess with it more when I have a chance but I worked through the long weekend and I finally get to go do something fun today. I'll check it later to see what advice has been given.

Also, I forgot to throw in there that it is about 1/8" off over a 2" bit roughly. It is also evenly unsquare around the entire bit. So on he left it is leaning away and the right it is leaning towards if that makes any sense.

Might I suggest that you place an accurate straight edge across you plate and see if it is sagging.  This isn't something that I can remember reading about here, but perhaps...

You could have build up (dirt) inside the collet. Disassemble and clean all parts with white spirit and a brush. Dry carefully and put a bit of oil on it.

May not be ‘the’ solution but it doesn’t hurt either…

That's a good thing to check on. You did say you had a lot of vibration which would mean something is out of balance. ⅛" sounds like a lot to me. Take the not out and roll it on a flat surface to make sure that the bit isn't out as well.

I have checked the bit and also checked with other bits with both the 1/2" and 1/4" collets. Also checked for sagging and also checked for debris in the centering rings. He plate of the router appears to be flush to he table insert. I am puzzled. However, the table has a fairly large convex shape to it. I was told this is done to prevent sagging but it seems to be more than I would like sometimes. I'm getting very lost for words on this ordeal. Another thing is also the spring in my OF seems to have weakened quite a bit. I wander if it could be from that. The odd thing is the router isn't even 6 months old and I have never left it compressed for longer than working with it. Although it is probably my second most used tool in the shop bedsides my Tracksaw. I Profile every edge of everything I do with it.

I'd give Festool a call and see if you could hook up with your local rep to give a look at it . Because it is portable you could also take to a dealer that you know that knows festools. Let them look at it.

My top is NOT convexed it's flat for starters.
