CMS-OF Router table

Can anyone assist me with the purpose of this piece attached to the router table? I have searched the owners Manuel and online, religiously. I have contacted Festool support and yet to find an answer.
If anyone has any information, my shop and I would greatly appreciate it.

It is part of the CMS, not the router insert. You use it to clamp the trigger on the saws (TS55 and TS75) to secure them into the 'on' setting. The chain is there to make sure it is not lost.
If it bothers you, take it off, but make sure to keep it, in case you buy a table insert : )
