CMS or Precisio?

I can see why you're confused.

The fact is that the CMS TS 55 Set is a sweat deal, and when buying the components separately, the price was about 300 Euro's up from what you'd get in the "package deal".  I really liked the set, but I just wanted the bigger saw in it..... and a more or less comparable "rebate" in the process. They wouldn't do it - too bad.

OK, now I understand! Thanks for explaining.

On the plus side, the Precisio 50 does come with the dual suction hose - i had to buy it separately for my CMS. It works like a charm, but in real life, I haul it around to the jobsite but mostly forget to hook it up and just use the standard hose to the TS55 instead. On the other hand, when routing with the Basis 5A insert and the OF1010 it's really a lifesaver.

Dual suction hose?  Please excuse my ignorance, as we don't have the Precisio or CMS here.  But, I am interested in this dual suction hose.  Is this for using two extractors at the same time or do you use a Y adaptor to connect to a single extractor?  I did notice that there are two dust ports on some of the modules.

It's for two extraction points on the saw, hooked up to the same vac. Y-adapter at vac, 27mm to dustshroud above the blade, 36 mm to the the saw, underneath the table.

The sliding rail extension that comes with the CMS TS 55 is a very great piece of equipment, and the Precisio 50 doesn't come with one. for really wide crosscuts it's a big plus. I even tried to shorten a door ( an old 830mm one as that's the the theoretical maximum crosscut width ) and it actually worked ....  [cool].You don't want to be without it, even if it's the single most annoying thing to carry around ( it slides easily, so you have to take care how to carry it as it's easy to dent a wall with a railpart that suddenly extends from the tablepart you're carrying, or vice-versa )

Mine has a thumbscrew to stop it sliding.

Thanks for all the info guys. I would have responded sooner and more in depth to each of your posts, but unfortunately I cut quite deep into some of my fingertips with a knife while packing something and typing suddenly is quite the challenge. I think the CS70 is too big for the space I have so it must be a CS50 or a CMS TS55. After a lot of thinking I still don't have a strong preference for one or the other and think I can be happy with either of them. I'll just see which one presents itself at me as an offer I can't refuse first.

Hi Alex,

Again, I only have the CS50, not the CMS, and I am sure that you can get some time with dealers to test out some sawing to see which works for you. But if not, you are welcome to take some wood and try my cs50 to see how you like it. Of course with a big disclaimer: I am not selling mine  :).

Cheers, Mattijs

Alex,
I used to have the CMS with the TS75 and the router module, I have not used the Precisio so cant comment on that.
I sold the CMS due to a couple of reasons;
1. I saw it as the ideal setup doubling as a table saw and being able to use the saw on a guide rail for cutting larger panels but I got tired of the faffing about and need to set up the saw every time you took it out/put it into the table.
2. I found it very difficult to accurately set the tilt and height of the saw as there are no screw adjusters for this. Don't underestimate the number of times you will want to accurately set the tilt and or height of the saw and on the CMS this is not that easy.

Due to the above limitations I sold the CMS/TS75/Router Module and now have a Record TS200 table saw which I am very happy with (would have bought the Precisio but it was nearly ?1000 more than the Record with lesser capabilities) and a TS55 with a couple of guide rails.

My advice is to try putting the saw into and out of the table a few times and once you have it in the table try setting the tilt/height accurately and see how you get on.

Regards - Martin.
