Just recently I saw a video of a german guy demonstrating the cms and the awesome and various jigs he uses for it. One that caught my eye was his horizontal router setup, using the sliding table on the cms. Very impressive and I love it.
Here's his video...Shopmade Slot Mortiser on Festool CMS/ Vorrichtung zum Langloch fräsen

It got me thinking.....
I have a cms with the fence and sliding table and an mft and so was curious.... Can one put the CMS sliding table and its fence attachment on the MFT? I've never seen it or heard of anyone doing it so thought I'd try.
Yes! it goes on easily. I just tried to slide it on, being the same type of track it goes on easily and runs so smooth.
Just need a way to hold it secure and bingo.
I think I may make a small table base that goes ontop of the sliding table to hold a router or domino and then you have the ease of being able to slide it across the edge of your workpiece secured on the mft and route away. Stable and secure and your holes/groove etc all same height.
You may need to slide off the mft's height adjuster gizmo to get the fence slid along further on the mft profile. But thats simple anyway. I need to just secure the cms fence on the mft's profle so am thinking some sort of bracket that can hold a t bolt. Hope to get around to making something that can take advantage of this sometime in the near future. I'll post when I get it done.
Hope this idea and the video of the cms' horizontal router setup in the video may inspire others here.

That is a very interesting project, I definitely saved that to my routing folder.

[member=25351]acrobat[/member] did you ever get around to trying this? I like the idea a lot for a nice and easy way to use the domino and router consistently.

Not yet mate
I'd love to find the time but it is on the to do list! Along with a million other things ha ha.

[member=4404]Acrobat[/member] , I can't imagine that you ever found time for this, did you?

I'm working towards the same goal and found the same thing: the ST really needs something to hold it to the MFT, since it only hangs on the top of the profile.
