CMS VL Extension table

I have a CMS GE unit and OF and TS modules and recently bought the VL extension table (I already had the sliding table and VB extension table). I had wanted to use the VL table to be an outfeed table for both of my modules but find that with the OF (router) it can only be an infeed table due to the location of the power switch preventing its placement on the outfeed side.

I had already observed that it seems strange that the two modules (OF and TS) fit into the GE base unit in opposite orientations meaning that the sliding table attachment has to be completely swapped around every time its use is switched between the OF and TS modules.

It seems to me that if I want to use the VL table on the outfeed side with the router I will have to reposition the power switch. Has anyone else bought the same CMS components as me and found a better solution or maybe others are happy to use the VL table as infeed with the router.

Hi Cliff,

I am a little confused , I thought that modules were , for a better description , ambidextrous. I could be wrong , I cant picture your set up, as chance of some pictures ?

Tomorrow I'll have a look to see if the modules can be inserted either way round. If memory serves me correctly, I put them in as described above, following the instructions. The TS module can only be put in one orientation as the built in ruler used to measure the width of cut, has to be on the infeed side and this ruler can only be on the one side of the table.

Hi Cliff,
From memory the inserts can be put in either way round , both the TS and OF are fed from the front (switch end of CMS). Are there not 2  rulers one reading left to right and the other right to left, with a gap between the zero`s in the region of the kerf on the TS insert.

The OF and TS modules go in opposite directions and you cannot put them in the wrong way due to the little corner protrusion on one side of the CMS base unit (notched corner in the module plate).

Don't know why they had to do it this way, but thats how it is. Both feed from the power switch side anyway.

I have had another look and Reiska is absolutely correct. I think I must have got confused with trying to get my head around so many different components. This is no reflection on the Festool documentation which I found to be excellent in explaining the set-up of the various tables, modules and LA stopper.

windmill man mentioned rulers - there are indeed two rulers that are used to measure the width of cut on either side of the blade depending on which side you want to make the measurement from.
