Or a hall tree? Made from solid Maple and Bibolo. A commissioned project whilst having the freedom to design on the fly, where it’s placement limitations were one of its few given factors. The entryway for which the coat rack is made has some striking purple wallpaper which I have tried to incorporate in the design by choosing not to install back paneling of any kind.

The finishing steps might look confusing, here’s an attempt to try and fill you in.

As both the Maple and Bibolo get a different base coat but the same top coat I have tried to overcome the need for masking the different species with tape, preventing the spill of a base coat on wood it shouldn’t go, nor having to cut or miter the mouldings after the finish was applied. I did this by using small domino’s helping out with alignment. The Maple receives a transparent, though slightly white pigmented, base coat in order to “preserve” Maples distinctive paleness. Without this prep coat the Maple would yellow due to the topcoat that is used on the total final project. All the Bibolo parts receive a generous base coat of oil before it’s top coat is applied.

To whomever cares:
Maple base coat  Osmo 3041  1X thinly applied
Bibilo base coat  Osmo 1101  2X generously applied
Top Coat  Osmo 3064  2X thinly applied

Great project!  Really like the last couple of projects you posted and your shop is quite awesome as well.

You have a nice shop and wonderful skills! Thanks for taking the time to share.

Did you leave those final screw plugs as is at the end?

I think that would be a great touch if you did.

Protruded you mean? Yes they are. Also they have a chamfered edge. Isn't clearly visible in the vid, I know. I did though video tape the chamfering but when looking through that footage I decided to not include it.

Thanks walmart greeter :-)

Outstanding Mauri. Your videos are fun to watch. What are the dimensions of your assembly table?

It's 2500X1300 mm (little over 98X51.5 inches, so google tells me;-)

Nice one

I enjoy your videos

I don't think I could ever be organised enough to record a build

You mean, the shop organised or you yourself organised enough? Either one, I struggle with both too! But, I'd have to say that it is fun and in a way rewarding too! And doing a video, for me, is a good way to at least get the shop organised  [big grin]

Kind regards,
Mauri
