Hi, I'm new to festool and this is the first time I've posted. I wanted to build a paulk workbench but I only have a small van and single garage.  I searched this forum and come up with this a twist on a  idea I found on here.

I hate bending down for my tools so I put a shelf in and slots to hold guide  rails

It keeps the parallel guides off the floor.
I not real happy with the base think I'm going to make some folding trestles instead.

Very nice! Tool and rail holders / storage built in  [thumbs up]

Is the holder for the long rail a bit deeper than needed? If not I'd be concerned with cutting it if the saw was set a little too deep.

Great way to start posting. Welcome to the forum!  [smile]

Looks good bro, how many loose pieces ?
And do you keep it in your work vehicle all the time ?

Thanks Seth, there's  about 5mm clearance. I was thinking that when I was making it but then though I'll probably be using the rail and was planning on using sacrificial pieces  under work. I still may give it a extra 15mm. That's also why I do some on a angle and Straight ones for parallel guides.

It's funny I just posted an idea along the lines of this function over the weekend myself and b4 that I was searching for others and didn't really see anything

Hi billy, thanks. No loose pieces real I made a template so they all the same. But is a bit rocky with the straight up an down type legs I think I am going to use the shop dog still trestles instead. Not used it in the van yet that's another project. What's the post called so I can have a look?

It's right below yours
Shop made benchmark table,
Conceptually much different
Functionally the same

I wasnt referring to your craftsmanship when I asked about loose pieces
More how many pieces is it b4 set up

Sorry billy,
2 legs
5 crosses at 2440
5 crosses 2000
1 shelf
= 3 &1/2 sheet ply
Probably a bit over kill but I wanted to be able to hold guide rails in 300mm pieces

Lots of very good ideas here.

Storage of the long track with parallel guides at the front is super convenient.
8' x 4' is a great size for a work table to cut sheet materials.
Breaks down and assembles quickly.
Very portable.
Simple - genius.
Isn't going to cost the earth.
Something a woodworker should be proud of - making his own (especially when it's better than anything you can buy!)

I love MFTs (in a workshop) but would have far more use for this on-site than an MFT...

Good stuff!

Looks good, but a bit massive, you could probably remove lots of material to make it lighter and still keep it strong enough.

Thanks Alex. Yes it's a bit over kill but am probably only going to use it at home.  So not that bothered about weight. I could just leave a few peace out if was going to take it on site.
