question to all ? just received OF 1400 EBQ-plus and just realised it doesn't have a 6mm collet, which i need for job tomorrow. Q= can i use the 6mm collet from dewalt router in conjunction with festool rubber O ring and clamping nut or will it knacker anything, collets seem alike ?

Sorry, but I don't think you'll find anyone willing to touch that one for fear of the unknown or liability issues.  We are talking about a part holding a high speed spinning bit with cutters.

This issue has come up before. In the UK, the OF1400 comes with 8mm, 12mm and 1/2" collets, but not the 1/4". When I bought mine I kicked off about it (politely, of course!) and the dealer swapped out the 12mm collet for the 1/4" one at no charge.

It's rediculous that them give you a 12mm collet. Why? Who uses 12mm shank cutters? I don't even know if you can buy 12mm shank bits over here (or anywhere, for that matter).

Unfortunately JRB ,12mm shanks are standard in France and I suspect the rest of Europe. As usuals it's the UK out on it's own!

12.7 mm and 6.3 mm isn't good enough for you guys, huh?  [smile]

Apparently not.I'm with you lot as all my cutters are 12.7mm!

Well I do have few 8mm  [embarassed]

should have read the literature... I would suggest using your DeWalt router and not trying to invent something that is not meant to be.

MY OF1400 uses the exact same collets as the ELU 3HP router I have.  I don't think Festool makes collets - they are identical, same as the collet wrenches, so I'm assuming they outsourced them from the same source.
