Hey, fellas.
Jack Colliflower here. I'm pretty sure I posted on here before to answer some questions some years back....but I'm not 100%. I've had many ask me to come one here, but I've just never been much of a typer :)
However, I'm here to give you some good news :)
As some of you might know, Colliflower, LLC makes a great ZCI for the Kapex. I've sold thousands. However, also as you might know, replacing the insert takes a bit of effort: One must take out the plate in order to replace the replaceable insert. This can be a pain.
And so, thanks to you all, Colliflower has come up with a way to never need to take out the plate in order to replace the insert. I'll attempt to post pics and a video, but I'm not terribly tech-savy.
It was you all that requested the change, and due to it, I'm converting all my ZCIs to this superior design. Thank you!!
Once the plate is mounted once, just slip in/out the insert(s) as needed. Perfect ZC at all times (and all angles) if desired.
I will do my best to answer questions as they're posted. However, I keep busy. I'll log on in the mornings to see if there are any questions.
I'm sending some freebies out to people in this group so they can report back. Being a Kapex-er myself, I already know the convenient design, but I also want to hear from you. Thank you!! Pics....
Here's a video I posted on YouTube which shows it in action:=106s

Thanks for the post Jack. I installed your ZCI when they first came out about 4-5 ? years ago. I love the idea but I was always annoyed that I had to remove the assembly just to change the insert. I decided to leave out the 2 screws behind the fence and let the fence ZCI retain the end of your ZCI just so changing inserts would be faster. I’m typically swapping between a 90* and a 45* insert. This is a much better solution.  [smile]

Hey Jack, owning the original Colliflower ZCI for a few years now, I echo what [member=44099]Cheese[/member] mentions. I’d love to give this new one a go, and it really looks as though it’s a logical upgrade! Thanks for posting.

Thanks for stoppin by Jack! Love my Colliflower inserts for my SawStop PCS and Bosch Glide!

Wow Jack,

This is a great upgrade.  Have one for my Kapex and I thought I was a geek for changing out the inserts so often.

I’m getting the Kapex in April with the deal they are running. This will be a great upgrade for sure! Glad to see it’s so easy to swap inserts.

Jack, how many inserts come with the "Slide and Snap ZCI"? I didn't see it on the website. I'm assuming one, but not sure. Is shipping cost flat-rate or calculated?
Thanks. Good looking product!

Very nice!  I use the original version on my kapex.  Can the end of the black frame be milled out like in the picture or was there more to it?  (In other words, am I better off getting the new design)

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah, this is a much better solution. Taking the plate out/re-installing can be a pain--especially if switching between inserts often. Using the fence ZCI was/is a good solution. I need to work out some sort of deal so that those who have bought the previous ZCI can get the new at a discount. Will be thinking on that....

Yes, just 1 insert comes with the ZCI. However, 4-packs can be ordered. And FYI: The insert for the Slide & Snap is the exact same as the insert for the previous model.

Good question. Yes, it can be milled out, but...it's not as easy as that. You see, there are two "pockets" which allow the Slide & Snap, so you'd have to mill the pocket closest to the end narrower than the full dovetailed slot (narrower by 0.025" on each side is what I do), and the pocket where the slide action occurs is milled to .02" wider than the full dovetailed slot. If you're handy with a mill, it can be done. I'll post a pic or two to show....

That's good news Jack because the 3 fresh inserts I have downstairs are still useful with the new frame.

Has this been released yet as I'm going to Woodcraft in the afternoon?

Is there a maximum number of times you can remove and re-insert the insert before the "Snap" action goes away?

This looks intriguing to me. I just swapped out my Betterly ZCI tonight and forgot how finicky it is to get it adjusted correctly. Might have to give one of these a shot.
