Collins Coping Foot for Festool Carvex

Some members requested I find out about a Collins coping foot for the Carvex jigsaw so I contacted David Collins this morning.  He said it's not going to happen.  It's just too involved and costly to come up with the product which would look nothing like the current model.  In the end the cost would have to be passed onto the customer and it would be too high.  Sooo, anyone who wants to use the coping foot and wants to stay with Festool, better pick up the Trion before they're all gone.  I am highly recommending the coping foot to anyone who's been considering it.  If you need more info, you can contact David at 888-838-8988 or 614-873-6219.  He's in Ohio.  Collins Tool

this is only an idea so forgive me.
if you got an extra carvex exchangable foot and cut (gently remove) the quick change piece (maybe ekat has it ), could this be bolted to a coping foot

David said he had heard of people trying to do something like that.  You want to go thru the effort, go for it!

And, I might add, if you're looking for a Trion, try your local Rockler store- they're still selling their demos, so a Trion can be had for $165 if you get there before anyone else. I got mine!

I don't think you would get the same fluid rolling movements while cutting, but you could try it and give us your feedback.  Oh wait, you don't have a Carvex yet!  [tongue]

I believe Ken is right.  While I didn't get a chance to actually try it out I was looking at that possibility when I got to play with the Carvex in Lebanon this spring.

I purchased a Collins foot and a Trion, as the foot wouldn't work on my Bosch, with the full intention of dedicating the Trion to the foot and picking up a Carvex as my main jig; now if Festool would just do what's needed to enable the second part of my plan all would be right in jigsaw land.    [poke]

As an aside I was (and and still am) in a bit a shock that the Trion bevel adjustment is what it is. Loosen a bolt and squint to make out some roughly machined numbers on the base... ??!

I expect far better from Festool (is there some sort of alternate base I am unaware of?). The new base's are one of the essential features for me of the Carvex to make a Festool jigsaw functional day-to-day.
