And I thought I had some expensive vices vises...

Really feel sorry for my bride if I go first.

I think most of us are in that boat!

You only think...I know.  [smile]  Every now and then, I tell my wife what I just purchased, (forgetfulness on my part is a serious issue), she nods approvingly, makes some complimentary comment about how it appears to be so much better than the last one I had and then asks the pointed question, "What are you going to do with the other one"?

Whoops, what was I thinking? I'm certainly old enough to know better.  [tongue]

It's a battle all right!

No matter how many times I've tried, I just can't seem to make my missus understand why I need at least a dozen routers!

They just don't get it! Sigh!

I'll turn that answer on its head,  [poke]  the question is do they don't get it or don't we get it?  After all, there was a time when all of the FOG community produced items with just a screwdriver, a handsaw and a hammer... [smile]

Sweet Richard, I've always coveted those baby swivel Milton Bullets but most of my projects demand the Papa bear model. That's the reason I have the 4-1/2" version in storage, but ready to move to the new garage. [smile] Thinking about that statement for a second longer...between cars, motorcycles, tools and petrolinia, most of my last 50 years have been spent in storage.  [big grin]

I think if your projects are niche enough, that baby Milton Bullet could be the bees knees. That's pretty nice and few ever show up.

Oh no, I wasn't the buyer, value my scalp too much for that!

I'd just noticed that it was for sale, some brave soul put it up with no reserve, starting at 20 bucks. Bidding was spirited, which always intrigues me. There's a similar one available at around ~$1,300 asking, I wasn't aware they were so coveted.

While I'd like to have a small bullet vise in the armada, I'm out of space and the Versa vises do what I really need.

And, I had to google "petrolinia"... feeling better already about my estate sale inventory.  [poke]

[member=8712]Richard/RMW[/member] I would be stoked if we had stuff like that come up at that price here! So cheap!

These goofy little vises are so versatile...I absolutely love mine. Here's one set up on a SYS-MFT for light weight, temporary duty in the garage.
I have a large Wilton bullet and a medium sized Starrett yet I use the Will-Burt more often than both of the others. Bending sheetmetal is also a nice task for these Will-Burt vises.

I'd always assumed you were in Seattle...  [poke]

Somebody snapped it up. Aside from a little rust it looked to being great shape.

Exploring your continent, along with NZ, are at the very top of my bucket list. Preferably with an old Rover, duffle bag and Amex card and no limits on time/credit.

Someday.  [not worthy]

Happy to facilitate shipping if you need to import anything.

It's eBay, ships worldwide to wherever you are. If not, ask the seller to add "Global Shipping Program", it's no cost for seller and the shipping is very reasonable for buyers.

You'd love travelling OZ with a 4 wheel drive, we have huge tracts of bushland and sights that are quite amazing.

Thanks for the offer of shipping, I'll definitely keep it in mind!

At the bottom of the pic is why it's usually prohibitive to ship from USA to OZ, many times I've bought small light stuff and the shipping costs have been 3 times the cost of the item, especially with our dollar so bad, so that $200USD item with $200USD shipping becomes close to $800AUD with the conversion rates and fees added. This is why Asian products are so big in OZ, postage is virtually free.

I grew up in Nevada, grandpa was a prospector. Not a miner, he basically went out exploring and filed mining claims when he found something promising then started digging.

My earliest memory is sitting in the cab of Dad's 1967-ish Jeep pickup in a snowstorm at the mining camp, waiting for him to finish something so we could head back to town. When I started driving the E ticket was loading a 4 by with gear, beer and a dog/buddy or 2 and taking off across the state on dirt roads. Camp was wherever we ended up that night. That was freedom.

I'm serious about the shipping thing, perhaps I can just load up my carry on bag...

What, you have a bullet? Pictures, or it never happened!  [big grin]

Ya unfortunately it's in storage right now, circa 1960's or thereabouts. It's in pretty nice shape for its age. The plan is to move it to the new garage once things get a bit more straightened out.  [smile]

Here's a shot of it when I moved it into storage 16 years ago.  [huh]  [tongue]

Hey [member=8712]Richard/RMW[/member] I found this spread sheet on vises with almost 5000 entries at The Garage Journal website. It's pretty interesting, I just wish they also included the original manufacturer for some of the vises. For instance, I know my Starrett O15 was actually produced by Yost when Starrett quit production of their own in-house vises. The same goes for some of the Columbian products.

And here's a very interesting video on a vise collection from the Practical Machinist website.
