Here's a sneak peak of what I finally decided on; custom CNC foam insert.  The drill bits were chosen based on the most common sizes and type I use at work.  It was fun to do, but took ages and cost far too much, looks good though  [tongue]

At first I found it better with my drills in a sys 1 and everything else in a sys 2 with attic lid , I also fitted a drawer from a sortainer , I am now slowly changing/ tweaking things to cram as much gear as I can into as few systainers as is possible but still get to what I need easily.a couple of pics to maybe help you.

I like the idea of the sortainer drawer...how do you get it to latch?

Just glued a thin bit of plastic inside to take up the slack front to back. It only just fits due to the shape of the tloc inside.

I also had 2 x foam trays CNC'd for the lid insert as well, noise reduction and just because I could.  I like to test the capabilities of systainers and see if I can come up with any value added features for them, all good fun.

that.is.AWESOME  [big grin]

do you know someone that could CNC for you or do you have a shop?

Hi 3Pedal,

Thanks, I would say the same could be done with wood if your handy with a router and have time, I'm interested to see how hard wearing this will turn out to be.  I went for the hardest foam so stabbing it with drill bits is fine, it doesn't disintegrate.  I have access to a CNC but still had to pay.

Where did you get the foam for the insert from?

Hi allen,

I got it locally.  Its pretty standard foam; search for "LD45 foam" and you'll get many results.
