Just finished a powder room vanity and installed it last night. The finish is 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of Benjamin Advance paint. I sanded with 320 grit between each coat and then hand rub the final coat with Presta Supercut Compound and cheese cloth. The finish came out smooth as glass with no brush marks or roller patterns. I also used Benjamin Moore's Extender in the paint. Works like magic.
Very nice clean lines. Did you route the door?
This post is very timely, because I am trying to develop a method for painting my furniture. I have decided on on an air compressor and an HVLP gun, but still would like to have the option of brushing, especially since weather conditions dictate when I can paint. In order to spray, it must be a certain temperature, with no wind, and of course there must be enough day light in the sky.
I think your description pretty much gives enough detail for me to follow. Is the paint a gloss paint? If so, did the extender take reduce the sheen? Did you wait a full 24 hours between finish coats? Is the paint hard enough?
