Compressor in a systainer

Actually, it does, but the wrap around handle needs to be cut off. No other modifications are required for a sys 4.

Thanks for that Dan, I was trying with the tank facing the back and it didn't look like it was going to fit.  I had the angle grinder and was ready for handle surgery and whimped out.  Did you take off the feet and bolt the compressor down like you had with the classic you used to use?
 
Hi Kevin, I did take off the feet to transfer to the sys, but I did not bolt the compressor to the systainer. I do have a small piece of scrap carpet in the base of the sys under the compressor for vibration control. Besides portability, sound control is a big deal for me.

Do the sides of the systainer get excessively hot when it's been operating for a while?

I looked a one of our local compact compressors that'd be a possible fit ... a bit of "surgery" required.

No, the systainer does not seem to heat up, but I mostly just shoot 18 ga brads and 23 ga pins.  I've also drilled some make up air holes in the sides, that probably helps.

I'd be concerned if the compressor recycles repeatedly for extended periods, but you could just open the lid...

Those Schneider Airsystems compressors look really nice in systainers, but for me at least the 90dBA noise is a bit of a put off.. That's why I opted for a Senco 1010 compressor @ 68dBA

 
Wish I'd been more rational in the compressor space ... I need to phone the power company to warn them when I'm going to start mine!

For some strange reason, running to spray guns concurrently seemed to be a good selection criteria [embarassed]

(it's not really that big and no, mine wouldn't run a professional paint shop - but it is big)

I also have an airbrush compressor, I'd really like something quiet and in the middle. If it was in a systainer, all the better.

Holy moly!  [scared] €600 for one in a Festool systainer, €360 for one in a Schneider systainer.  
That quite a  premium for a differently colored systainer.

Thanks for those pictures alex946! I wonder how filling the empty room up with noise reduction foam would affect the unit and how much it could reduce the noise levels  ???

As soon as I get a sound level meter, immediately conducted an experiment to reduce compressor noise.
