Connecting Hoses Temporarily

My primary hose is the newer D27/32 x 5m.

Occasionally I need a longer length, mainly when vacuuming the floor.

I have an older 27 x 3.5m hose that I would like to attach in occasion.

Is there an adapter that would fit the tool end of the 27/32 and the vac end of 27 that doesn't require a 'permanent' change?

I'm pretty sure that nothing is required. Just shove the tool end inside the big end of the second hose.
I know this works with some of the hoses, I have done it with mine. I just don't recall which ones exactly? It might be the 36mm hose fitting into the extractor end of the 27? or maybe two 27mm together? It's worth trying, you might get a delightful surprise.

Disposable water bottles, and most clear plastic soda bottles will heat-shrink.

Water bottles are made from lighter gage material and will shrink with less application of heat.

The main concern being the heat damaging the hoses.

I have not tested this, but leaving the vacuum on should prevent that damage.  Run some tests.  If the bottles will shrink with the application of heat from a hair dryer, then I would say you are good to go. If it requires more heat than that, I suspect it would be risk damaging the hoses.

(Water bottles do not have to deal with the potential pressures of carbonated beverages, and I suspect that is why they are made from lighter gage material.

Note:  I have joined things and I have clamped things using soda bottles.  But I have shrunk them using a heat gun only.  I never tried a hair dryer.

I just googled:  Temperature to shrink plastic is 180 to 200 F.

The temperature to bend acrylic is 290 to 320 F.

So I think you can tip toe that 90 degree gap.

You might consider using a 1-1/4" copper pipe coupling inside the larger hose's end (and you may need a worm clamp to hold it there if it's too loose).  The smaller diameter extension hose will slip right into the copper coupling.  You can also use the 1-1/4" coupling to join two 27mm hose ends.  [smile]

Also, you can make a small wood box, sealed on all sides with two holes drilled to allow an interference fit for each hose.

The holes can be on opposite sides or adjacent sides.

It would necessarily remain fairly stationary, but easily relocated by lifting the box.

I would make the box out of 1/2” or 3/4” thick plywood, MDF or particle board.

I made a fence for my router table just as described, but with a access port for the router bit to spin in.
