Connecting shelf to MFT?

I'm wanting to make a shelf for my TS55 as well as a small tool tray to hang on the sides of my MFT.

I'm sure I can use the T-track slot, but it seems it could also be beneficial to have it hook into the v groove as well.  Does Festool have any part that lends itself well to creating these add-ons to the MFT? I would really like to machine an aluminum piece that hook into the v groove and t-track and extend down the side a few inches for attaching just this type of shelf/tray.

Can anyone point me toward posts showing how people have configured this?

thanks all

I've been wanting/meaning to do the same thing, and am looking forward to the responses!  [popcorn]

You just have to cut a wood piece in 45degre to act like a V  and use it as french cleat. Now you just have to build a box or a tray to accomodate your needs.

What he said...

But I have a few other suggestions. Try to make the height of the "wing" the same as the MFT, it is nice to slide stuff over sometimes. Also, anchor it with the t track to make sure the cleat doesn't pop off (in case that wasn't obvious.

I'm in the process of making a 'Festool Wall' behind my MFT. Soon as completed, I'll try to post pics.

Not really necessary to make the cleat. Two bolts in the t-track are more than enough to hold the shelf secure. Add small wing knobs and you're good to go.

Not sure if this would meet your needs, but this is what I did. Very simple box to hold all my clamps, dogs, etc. Held on by a couple of t-nuts and knobs.

Here is my box.  I can't take full credit since the design was lifted from another FOG member.  I used a 45 deg French cleat at first but the box would fall off due to vibrations from sanding or hammering.  I added the second cleat made from 1/2 inch plywood to solve this problem.  Problem solved!  The box slides on and off easily and without further hardware attachments.

Side note… what tape measure is that?  The one on the MFT/3 fence?

AofD - thank you for the photos, this would work very well. I especially like the holes for hanging your quick clamps.

i'm thinking of making a single unit that is both a shelf for the TS55, with an open well in the base for clamps/knobs, and side slots (cut with domino) to hang quick clamps.

thanks all
