As a few dealers have announced, we will be introducing the corded versions of the Carvex 420 on September 1st with the cordless coming later this year.

Please use this thread to ask any questions so everyone can easily find the answers they're looking for.

More information at http://www.festooljigsaws.com and some video below to get the party started.

Don't forget to check out Peter Parfitt's series of Carvex videos for more in-depth information.

Thanks,
Shane

Question---
How are the carbide side guides adjusted? Allen wrench, automatic, etc?
Don't see that covered in the videos.
Thanks.

Same as the Trion jigsaws, with a wrench. Like Rick Christopherson pointed out recently, you only need to adjust them when you change blade types or want extremely perpendicular cuts, otherwise they can be left open.

A Festool video that has someone TALKING about the features.  Very nice ... Thanks

Did they add on-board storage of the wrench?

The one that I have does not have on-tool storage for the wrench, but I had heard (at least I think I heard it) that it was in the works. I don't have an ETA. There is storage for the wrench in the Systainer insert.

When ;D I win the Carvex 420 in this months drawing, will I have to wait until September 1st or will I receive it in August ???

By the way, send me a barrel grip.

As with all sweepstakes prizes, the winner must sign an affidavit which usually takes a few days to receive back at a minimum. Then prizes are usually shipped promptly thereafter.

No problem, I'll just drive down to fill out the paper work and pick up the prize;)

Got any info on the accessory kit? Pricing and what comes in it?

I'll get the Carves and accessories added to our site tomorrow hopefully. The Accessory Kit will be $200 USD and includes:

Dimpled base plate (497 298), hard fiber base plate (497 299), metal cutting base plate (497 300), angle base (496 134), guide rail base (497 303), circle cutter (497304), five splinterguards (490 120), and Systainer SYS 2 T-LOC.

You can see this and other accessories at the bottom of this page:

The accessory kit is also featured in the last video in my original post in this thread.

Sept release is great news.  I am waiting for carvex primarily for circle cutter.  That option to cut larger circles like table tops has me excited. Light and other enhancements are attractive too but by themselves may not get me to spend the extra.  Anyone have experience with circle cutter for larger radius projects?  Is it worth waiting for versus just getting a trion? Thanks.

Shane,

Will the accessory kit be 497709 ??  Just wondering if there will be a difference in NA vs. elsewhere.

I'm just stepping in for Shane.  Yes, the Accessory Kit number (according to the catalog) will be 497709.  Whereas that part number appears to be the same as in the UK, I would venture a guess that it's contents are the same.

Thanks Peter.

If it's the same kit, it will be significantly cheaper in the U.S. than Germany...even without VAT. I'll get it in September while I'm home in Florida!  [drooling]

Germany Price with no VAT is  € 202.70 = $271.00  Even a 10% discount makes it $244.00.  The Germans have to pay € 241.20 with VAT = $323.00 at current exchange rate!  OUCH! [jawdrop]

Our price in Oz is $AUD335 ... you'll notice similar value in buying the OF2200 accessories, LR32, etc, etc in the US.

I was just in Germany and had the Systainer in my hands. Asked Peter from Toolnuts  and he confirmed our US price and I left it in the shop together with a Carvex. I was planning to use the batteries from my C15 and not being able to transport two batteries and having a useless charger, made no sense at all to get it.
Our US prices are really good compared to Germany and believe me, the level of knowledge at this side of the pond is extraordinary. I ordered an insert for my CMS table and one week later,  still not at the dealer. Departed without my order.

Are you sure that wasn't just that particular dealer?

My local Festool dealer is great here in Oz and gets stuff for me next day if it isn't in his shop - but there are also stores locally selling Festool that I won't touch.

Probably, it is a "shop in a shop" and I expected same level of engagement I get back at home. Customer service culture in Germany is substandard. Try to buy cold cut 30 minutes before they close and you will hear a ......
My point is, after trying several times in Germany I will source my tools in the US. I love to get my stuff next day...
Carvex, here we come....
