I'm not sure if I understand the question.  Any hose will work with the Y-spliter, however, the Y doesn't fit in the Mini/Midi.

If I remember correctly Brice has a Pre release model of the CMS.  If I remember from his videos the splitter is a separet piece.  (Brice please correct me if I am not being accurate). The units sold have a y fitting that is "permanately" attached to the hoses.  If you remove the hoses from the fitting they will just be a hose - no end

I got my CMS today and put to together....

Now the "Y" thingy  -- I have a Mini - and I purchased the Grey large3 36MM hose for my Kapex...

So I am looking at this "Y" thingy...  I put the gray hose in the mini - other end in the "Y" taped it up with painters tape since it was not a snug fit - I get everything ready powered on and Vola!!!! El suckage....  worked better than I expected.. still left some saw dust but no much..

Only thingis now is firguring out how to get hte exstension table even with  the rest of it... Instructions left something to be desired - is there a supplemental instructions similar to the Kapex??

Instructions left something to be desired

That's the primary reason why I took the time while setting up a second one to detail the set up here. More than one person told me it wasn't clear. If you follow the steps in sequence that I referenced above, both the slider and the extension tables are easy to nail quickly. The fence and edge routing shroud also deserve careful adjustment and they are detailed as well.

I am thinking about getting the CMS-GE basic kit not the set.
I have 27 and 36mm hoses on my boom arm and was hoping to use a Y-adapter for the DC to the CMS.
Does anyone know if the DC is significantly better with the Y-adapter and shorter hoses that come with the CMS-GE set?

I have 2 of the 36mm x 3.5m antistatic hoses and a Y-adapter on mine and the dust collection is excellent.

With a 36 and a 27, you won't be constricting the airflow of the CT. The shorter hose(s) might improve things slightly but I doubt it would even be detectable.

Due to friction, there is a drop in vacuum, or drop in pressure according to which you are using, that has a definite relationship to length of hose as a drop from fittings.  I don't think there would be a problem with the lengths of hoses we are talking about here.  There are times when, instead of dragging my CT up the cellar stairs to clean up some dust upstairs, i just add a length or two of AS hose.  In those situations, i do notice a definite drop in vacuum.  When running a few hundred feet of water hose, there is a very definite drop in pressure at the nozzle. 
When running a few hundred feet of 12ga electric wire as opposed to the same length of 8 or 10 ga wire, there is a definite noticeable difference in output.

On this quiet Sunday afternoon I finally have the time to fully set up my new CMS OF, and find myself with several questions for FOG, even after reading all ten pages of this thread.

First there is this doohickey that I cannot figure out where it goes or what it is for.  No part number, I don't see it in any of the instructions, manuals, or videos.  Made of black plastic, it's profile suggests that it clips onto the "V" profile of the sliding table or extension table and it holds(?) something round or clips to something round.

Second question has to do with the issue of using a OF2200 router with the CMS, which clearly voids the warranty in NA (my location) based on all the discussion on FOG.  Why then did Festool include the rings for the OF2200 router (ring set, part number 495 089, specifically part numbers 473449, 473808, and 473812) with the table?  I'm assuming that the ring set is universal and there are not different sets for NA.

Now I'm going back to the shop and actually do some woodworking instead of staring admiringly at my latest Festool addiction, oh, I mean acquisition. [big grin]

Its the holder for the small hose to the router.  It clips on the back side of the table.

I think some kits were shipped with the OF2200 rings before someone at Festool USA realised. Count yourself one of the lucky ones!
