would the vl attach to the cms unit to make a dual unit. not of any use to ye yet but to us. having 2 inserts set up would be cool

the CMS-VL CMS insert holder attaches the the the newer style MFT profile, it has a plastic v shaped connector that sits on the MFT profile. The CMS-VL itself uses the smae profile as MFT, so you can attached any number of VL together, or put one at each end of an MFT is you wanted to lets say have a permamnent CMS with the TS55 and a router CMS set-up
iwas thinking that but wasnt sure

are you guys planning on adding in the various accessories and router plate(s?) to the system?

I'm not sure which accessories you're referring to, can you give me an idea of which ones? We will be offering the OF router module (plate) that will accept the OF 1010 or OF 1400 router. The sliding table, miter gauge, dual hose dust extraction set for top and bottom collection, and infeed/outfeed extension table.

Does it take the same plate for both the 1010 and 1400 or is there a different plate for each router and if so, what is the cost?

Same plate/module for either router, Scot.

Above with a removable handle.. on the videos above you can see it on the right of the 2nd video from the top

It's actually possible to adjust the bit height from the top or the bottom. Not sure why you'd want to reach under the table to do it, but you can.

I think you can do it from the bottom to get the bit close when you still have the module upside down and out of the table.

Wow. Am I the only one that gets the impression this even caught FestoolUSA off guard?

I don't need it... but I want it. My unisaw with delta sliding table, router table extension and Incra fence is looking a little bulky all of a sudden.

Shane, can the table extension be used with the VL? For some reason it isn't in the package but there's no reason it couldn't be added, right?

I would say you need to read between the lines when it comes to the CMS.

With the basic platform now available the  possibilities are endless.  Extension tables for the MFT/3, after market mounting plates and other mods. You could also make mounting plates to mount non-festool product in the CMS. You just need to open up to what is possible now that the basic building platform is  for sale in the USA.

No, the extension is not compatible with the VL. The VL does not have the bracket to attach it. But, if you're attached to the MFT/3, that can serve as additional work surface.

And, it didn't catch us off guard. [big grin]

Hope not, some times we look at things too narrow mindedly. We should be look at all the possibilities.

How heavy are the CMS units?

I don't know the numbers but I tell you each individual piece doesn't weight all the much, all together it's somewhat heavy.
