Contemplating Planex purchase??

Hi everybody.  I am on the fence on purchasing a Planex.  Currently I build 2+ spec homes a year and pick up 1-2 full rehabs I keep for rentals.  I sub out all my drywall work but that doesn't eliminate sheetrock repairs for missing wires/plumbing and the usual BS that goes along with construction.

I have an upcoming remodel project- 4000ft2 home that needs updating- 2 full 1- 1/2 baths/add a bath/Kitchen and everything else. Some ceiling work.  My guys normally use the Festool hand sand vacuum attached rs2 and ls130 paper size sanders.  I have 2 midi's and a 36 but I will most likely pick up the 36AC regardless of the planex purchase because drywall does kill my Midi's/36 useful bag life with the hand sanders.

I can understand where it would save time doing an entire house but not sure if the dust collection and time saved would be worth the probably $1400 investment after factoring in accessories and paper. We are talking about a lot of little areas.  Budget for the job is generous but already picking up a 36AC/ Duo syslite and possibly the HKC.

Thanks

You seem to be the perfect candidate for trying it out under the 30 day trial period.  The worst off that will happen is that you won't find it working in your own situation.  Of course you will have a learning curve to toss into that equation, but if it meets you needs with the learning curve then it should surpass them later.

There are many accessories for the Planex and as such they are not included in the trial period, so be aware.  Also, if you buy from an online dealer and decide to return then shipping back will be on you.

Peter I may not have been to clear in my OP. I know it will be worthwhile in this upcoming job just asking if it's worth spending that much money when going forward I will only be using it for small spots here and there.

I bought one and I only have one house and a rental.  I do almost all of my own rehab work but I hate the drywall sanding.  I had a porter cable and didn't like the dust collection.  I gave it to my son and bought the Planex.  The dust collection is much better but you still get some side spray if you tilt the sander.  I haven't used it a ton but it just makes my life easier and a job I dislike less unenjoyable.  I'm always redoing something and this helps.  Besides, my newlywed daughter bought an old house and I've been helping out occasionally with that and my wife's family cottage summons from time to time.  Anything that keeps the mess down and means I don't have to hand sand makes me happy.  Its worth it to me.
