I've almost decided to purchase the Conturo to help me complete a couple of larger projects. But before taking the plunge, I need a little advice.

I'm using a 3/4" Panolam designer laminate (particle board), and my distributor gave me 1mm 7/8" edge banding for it.

All the videos I've seen on the Conturo show edge banding that is 3-4mm wider than the edge. It appears that the Conturo applies the banding with about a 2mm overhang at the top. The size of my banding won't support that.

So my question is whether I can use the Conturo with banding that is much closer to the size of the panel?

Thanks in advance!

Good question! If using the Conturo in the table, I think that this is possible. If handheld, you would need to remove/reduce the height of the bearing surface that rests on the top of the workpiece. From memory, it is attached with screws for exchanging with the plate that accepts felt pads.

I got the Conturo with the table the other day. By replacing the 1/4" high guide plates with a sheet of melamine sanded down to 1.5mm less than that (about 4mm), I was able to get the edge banding centered on the edge of the panel, with 1mm-1.5mm protruding on each side.
