Will the conturo be available in North america soon? Festool just uploaded this to youtube;

Already announced on the Forum. Do a search.

Available in March!  You'll LOVE it...I bought mine in Germany last year.

Cheers,

Frank

Should be let the questions begin in this topic..?! [laughing]

How does the Conturo MFK differ from the current MFK router? If it's just the base, is the Conturo MFK base available on its own so I can use the MFK I already have?

That's cool i was going to get one here before I went back to the states. Now I see I don't have to.

Im assuming this will be a 110v unit right?

I knew this item would be expensive, but holy cow.  [eek] I can only see a production shop  having the need at this price point. Would love to own one and the accessories look great, but not at this price, I'd just never get "my money" back out of it as a hobbyist. I would even call myself a "collector" of nice expensive tools (Festool/Woodpeckers/Incra) I can't see spending this amount. Love all of my Festools, which I've acquired a lot, but this one will have to wait, maybe the next Reconditioned Sale! Ha Ha, looks awesome though. What is everyone else's thoughts? Am I way off base? I guess I didn't look at the pricing from overseas I imagine it's pretty similar? No sys vac over here either?

Yeah. If you compare it to stationary machines, even used ones, it's a cheap alternative though!

I'm not a cabinetmaker -- just a renovator that does the odd built-in. I prefer solid edging anyway.

If I had a cabinet shop, or did a lot of curves, I'd probably be considering it.

We do have a large custom cabinet business. One of our automated machines is an edge bander. It did cost as much as mentioned in the video, but it was a substantial investment. As mentioned in the video, my auto edge bander does not do curves. I encourage solid edging, so I selected a machine which can use 3mm banding.

As mentioned in the video the Conturo bands curves. I was in Europe when they were introduced there, and I was impressed. I have pre-ordered a Conturo because each year we are asked to build more curved cabinets.

Personally I doubt that Festool expects to sell many Conturo systems to DIY, but back in 2006 I doubted how many TS55 would be purchased by DIY. People will pay for Festool quality.

I wasn't surprised by the price.  I would love to have a hands on and training on the tool so that I can help others with questions but the math wouldn't work for me either.

I noticed it had dust collector hookup. It didn't appear to cut the edging so is that for the glue fumes ? Just curious.

Exactly. Just for fumes if it bothers you. It's got a smell to it the first time you use it and the instructions even say this. But, afterward, I don't think it's as noticeable.

Some people might like the fumes...  [eek]

You have my address of where to send the free unit you promised.  I know you don't want those photos I have released.  [big grin]

All kidding aside, this is a fantastic machine, demoed at Festool Connect last year.  Sadly would collect to much dust with my usage.

Wow! As much as id like to get my hands on that toy, its out of my price range. Looks so awesome!!
