Hi, I am having issues with glue application

Generally I use 7/8" banding on 3/4" stock. Today I have been trying to use 1 3/4" banding on 1 1/2" stock. When doing this I am getting very inconsistent application of glue. I have attached an image of the results. You can see the right side is more consistent I suspect this is because I use this area all of the time. I Purged the tool twice today in hopes it was clogged and this would help but that has not been the case.

Any advice is welcome.

Thanks

Hi. I sometimes get similar issues when using it on the slowest speed. So I will start off on the white knuckle ride that is speed 2.

How thick is the banding? If it is over 1mm, it may need to be softened so that as it passes the nozzles the glue will adhere to it. I would also turn the heat up, while speed may help, it appears that the glue is not adhering to the banding and may not be hot enough to flow onto the banding as it passes by the nozzles.

Thank you all for your comments.

Unfortunately speed is not a factor, in fact I generally work on speed 2. Temperature, I have raised it to the max in hopes of it helping. Lastly the thickness is super thin .5mm.

The only think I have found to this point in helping at all(but not completely) is use. after struggling through 30-50 ft of poor application The flow is finally about 90% good.

All this to say, I have not found a solution and I am still struggling with it.

Any more advice welcome.

Thanks

You might have clogged nozzles.  I had a similar issue (not as bad) and I was able to fix it by dumping 1-2 pucks of glue out the bottom of the machine (the colour change procedure).  I figured out I had put glue pucks into the machine along with some saw dust.

Have you ever purged any glue from the unit i.e. when you change colors etc.?
Might help.
I also periodically clean the glue head and rollers with acetone or paint thinner.
