Hello all, I'm fixing to convert to the new T-Loc systainers.

Will the tool inserts from my old systainers fit into the new ones?
What's the best way to set up the new ones for non-Festool tools?

Is there anything else I should know that I don't know to ask?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere, I didn't find anything about it...

I swapped over to 5 new systainers a few months ago. Most of the inserts fit with a little trimming. I would suggest just getting the systainers and trying to fit the old inserts. If you have some that won't work you can always order the newer style. I think they cost about 10 bucks. Good luck!

Or you could sell the dirty tools and buy new clean tools in T-Locs  [big grin]

I did this last year when tlocs were cheap here. I bought loads and sold all my original ones , very glad I did it. I bought new inserts but I only had ts55, ehl65, of1010

Hi,

Welcome to the FOG!  [smile]

As already stated the conversion of most of the inserts is pretty easy.  Here is a thread with some info.. http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-tools-accessories/niptuck-new-t-locs-old-inserts/

As far as putting other tools into Systainers have a look throught the Systainers board here on FOG
http://festoolownersgroup.com/festool-and-tanos-systainers/

and also here on talkFestool  http://www.talkfestool.com/vb/festool-tanos-all-things-systainer/

What other tools do you want to put in Systainers?

Seth

Thanks for all the replies!

While I love the idea of just replacing all my tools with new T-Loc enabled ones, until I win the lottery the budget won't support such a move.

This morning I found a site that has several generic tool inserts for the T-Loc boxes:
http://www.t-locsystainer.com/html/inserts_3.html

I do have a sander that came in a T-loc box so I can try the old inserts in it and see which if any will need replacing vs. trimming.

Non-Festool items include Bulldog hammer drill, Finecut saw, RotoZip, etc.

Now to find the cheapest source for the new boxes...

I am not certain but for non-Festool branded  (Tanos) Systainers availability in the USA might be down to one source (Lee Valley). Mysystainer / Japan Woodworker was just acquired by Woodcraft. I don't know if Woodcraft will continue to carry  the non-Festool portion of the Tanos line.

If the Bulldog is the reciprocating saw shape it probably won't fit in a regular Systainer.

Also check out Kaizen foam for making your own inserts.
