I promised to post an unpolished video of coping crown molding with the RAS 115 this weekend in response to interest from several members.  It is in the works.  After several technical difficulties it is compiling now.  If it meets the approval of the membership I will post on Festool TV.

I will alter this post and insert the video here.

Peter

Thanks for the patience.

Thirteen minutes of video in HD.  Two hours of fighting the computer to offload from the camera.  Ten minutes of editing.  Forty five minutes of converting to movie.  One more hour of uploading to You-tube.  Then their processing time.

Patience is a virtue.  I have almost run out of mine.  [eek]

Hope the video is worthwhile.  It is rough and in my style.

Peter

Edit:  Now after all this, the message has come up and said that it has been rejected for being too long.  This is after I get a notification that I can do movies over 10 minutes in length.  ARGHHHHH!

Peter, try Vimeo.com. No file limit.

Right now I hate YouTube.

I had to split my video into two pieces.  I reduced the resolution so that I could do some other things.  Part one is still processing.  Part two is done.

Part One:  With Dust collection:

Coping Crown with the RAS 115 with Dust Collection

Part Two.  Coping crown using the RAS 115 quickly to illustrate how much dust would be created using a grinder like other videos.

Part Two - No duct collection

Well Peter.... that was very well demonstrated.

Thanks for taking the time to do the video.

I have received some personal messages that have informed me that I am long winded in my videos.

In this case, I do not apologize.

Learning how to cope moldings is a skill that is essential to installing correctly - IMO.  It is a dying technique whose death is popularized by the DYI channels with their untrained stars.

These threads are viewed by people of all skill levels in many parts of the world and if one viewer gets something out of this - either tool wise or technique wise or theory wise - then it was worth it.

  Peter,

Ditto what Dan said.

Thanks,

Bob

hi peter.

thanks for the great videos. keep them coming!

i did not think your videos were too long. i understand your need to show the whole process for those people who are still learning.

love your work!

regards, justin.

Peter, thank you for doing this video.

It makes coping much easier and shows an additional use for the RAS.

Keep the demonstrations coming.

[thumbs up] Cool videos, very informative.

I agree with your statement regarding DIY shows, they have a lot to answer for, including the boom of mdf over nice timber work.
Thank you.
Rob.

As impressive as the Festool Demo at JLC LIve Providence.  Have one coming from Timmy C, with another CT22 for the huge savings, Eric

Thanks Peter,

I also use a grinder and it was good to see the dust collection in action.  Were you using a hard pad or the standard soft pad?
