I would love them to make a cordless ts55. I would be there in a heart beat. I'm a site kitchen fitter and only like to use my generator for the router and chop saw so its not running all day :) using a hilti skill saw with guide rail but would love love love love loves cordless ts55!! FESTOOL....

There are certainly good and bad in the cordless circular saw space ... my Hitachi is quite poor.

If festool did a cordless TS55 i would get one!
Said it many times before on here!

I would be using my cordless TS 55 mainly for cutting sheets up on roofs or flooring walls etc where cables are annoying or I require only a few cuts so saves time setting up power.

In the past i use to think sometimes to my self sod it ill rip a 8x4 sheet down by hand saves setting up power but then I remembered my apprentice days of cutting 8x4 sheet down by hand.

So then I bought my cordless milwuakee circular.
I would rather use a guide rail with a cordless circular saw then trying to fallow a line dead on it or clamping a piece of timber to run along.  It will be must faster to just drop a rail on the marks and cut with cordless TS

And I don't want a dewalt one. Sorry dewalt!

I had to buy the dewalt cordless last summer to build my dock.  Something about standing in 3 feet of water with an extension cord seemed kind of wrong.  [tongue] It actually worked out pretty good.  Now, I just store it under the seat of my truck for last minutes cuts at a box store.

Surely a pair of rubber waders would have been cheaper.... [poke]

[big grin]

I'm using a cordless hilti circular with a guide rail, works perfectly for kitchens but want a festool one :) bought my first festool tool a few weeks ago and now want to change my entire tool collection to festool :) I did look into the dewalt, not sure why I didn't get one but the prices at the time were horrendous like £7-800 depending on where you looked and I don't think you can get them in the uk now, not sure though

I also use a cordless 22v Hilti on a Makita track  [big grin]

Cordless sounds brilliant but in practice is no good, as you need decent extraction on the ts 55 or you end up having to wipe down the rail even cut as it jambs, I'm currently replacing all my cordless stuff for corded now  ( carved and bosh muti cutter) as the cod less bit is more hassle than its worth [2cents]

how about if they put a fan in there to blow the dust into a bag

I agree to a certain extend and I love dust extraction! AND I do find Festool tools seem to be affected by dust more than other branded tools!  Example  Kapex is a pain in the @£%$% with no dust extraction it gets dust stuck in places which need cleaning out if your altering angles etc.    Festool Sanders work very poorly with no dust extraction but other sander I have used in the past work fine with no dust extraction

Back to the point YES the rail gets dust on it etc  a quick tap solves that problem.  Yes if your cutting LOADS AND LOADS its not ideal to go cordless  but  for 10 cuts or less its no problem.

I did some wooden shingles I sailed them all past on the gable ends AND on the hips  I dropped the 2.7metre rail and used my TS cut nice straight line.    A cordless would of been a lot easier!
Cutting plywood for flooring on joists with cordless is easier.    Your not going to have a vac up on some joists so why have a lead in the way if you can go cordless.

I have often had to cut up flooring for many reasons mainly for plumbers using a rail to cut out a nice square for it to drop back in.  I would just take my 800mm rail and Cordless TS simples.

Many little jobs really.

Yes, rubber waders would have been cheaper.  But, When the wife asked how much life insurance I had, and she smiled when I told her, I decided to go the cordless route.  Plus, I got an extra set of wife-approved tools!  [wink]

I think a cordless TS would be great, just need a bucket of 18v 4.2 mAh batteries and you could get quite a bit done..

I can't even imagine that a battery powered circular saw would have enough power to last for any appropriate length of time.  The battery powered Carvex jig saw lasts for only a marginally tolerable length of time.  Perhaps, if Festool double their maximum powered battery (18 volts) it would be enough but, even then, I am not certain that this would be enough power.

I'm thinking the 18 mAh 4.2 will give a better runtime x2 then it's working out okay..
