Could There Be An Issue With Storing Batteries in Systainer?

I've been keeping some of my battery chargers (DeWalt, Skil and Makita) in an M137 Sys3 Systainer, along with some 12v and 20v batteries fully charged (the Festool batteries and chargers are in their individual systainers). Whenever I open the systainer, I sense an "electronics" aroma and this makes me wonder if it is indeed safe to keep batteries in the Systainer?

Any thoughts?

I avoid closing the lid after having just used the chargers or batteries until they're close to ambient temp, but it's absolutely safe to store them in a systainer.

Because they have such a close fitting lid, it's just letting the normal lingering plastic/electronic smell remain built-up in the enclosure.

You sure about that smell ? I never heard of that.

I have read that the bigger risk to batteries is while charging them. So I try to be present while charging them, or at least sit the charger in the middle of a bare concrete basement slab if I have to leave it unattended.

And then I store the batteries separately from the tool --- in steel boxes mounted on a drywall wall, close to a smoke detector. I used ammo boxes, and added a divider in them, so I get two batteries per box.

OK, I admit it, I am a little OCD.
