Hi,

Racking the brain of the experienced FOG members on here for some recommendations on the best quality countersink bits, mainly for installing plugs. I'd prefer bit with an incorporated drill bit with a adjustable depth stop, just wondering if anyone had some good experiences with the best brand for this application?

I'm mainly going to be installing #14 screws, also #8, #10 & #12's, also metric would be preferable.

There is no best one, just to name a few with good own experience: Fisch, Festool, Snappy, Famag (variable).
Just be aware that the depth stop ring rotates freely and doesn't mark the material or is made from Delrin or Teflon.
And a few from Down Under: Smart Bit, DeckBit
Models also available from: Lee Valley, Snappy, Axminster.

I use smart bit's flat out on the job site, literally saved me hundreds of hours, especially on decks.

But with the smart bits, aren't the collars fixed? You cant adjust the depth of the countersink deeper to suit a plug?

WL Fuller's have a fairly good reputation as well?

Plus one on the Smart Bit. In US, they are sold through Starborn Industries, and they sell sets of screws and plugs in a variety of wood species. I just finished my own deck - 3000 plugs. Could not have done it without Smart Bit.

i use the festool and snappy countersinks and love them so far
