I posted a video on the Cross Cut Jig shown my earlier video on the parallel guides. It took me two days to shoot 4 hours of video which I edited down to under 7 minutes. I need to work on my video skills a bit more, but it does get the concept across.

Nice Ron,
If I didnt have 2 MFT3's Id build me a UWB and one of those do hickies.

now you just need to bump out your 1/2 sections to 28" so you can break sheets with it.  The idea works great have been using my own version for several years.

I wonder why Walko quit selling in the U.S.? I had one for a while and have never met anybody else with one. When I sold it, it took a long time to find a buyer even though it was 1/2 price and only 3 months old.

Yes that was a Walco,  These pics were before the parallel guides were available, I had come up with a way to make fast, accurate rips and crosscuts.  I was asked to play around with a couple, walco benches and see if they could be modified to work as an onsite cutting table.  The Walco came to the US shortly before the housing market TANKED,  It was much like those Hand Stitched leather Bags that are 4X more $$$,  and in the final assessment do not preform any better than other high quality products 1/2 the price.

the rip system could be adapted to Ron's benches fairly easily  the sacrificial face would have to be different but it wouldn't be too difficult.
here are a couple links to the photo albums that are relivent http://www.talkfestool.com/vb/members/charimon-albums-walco-cuting-table.html
http://www.talkfestool.com/vb/members/charimon-albums-rip-guide.html  the oak blocks had been remade in UHMW  with AL studs  I was going to patent it but at this point I dont care.  feel free to make your own  some where there is a Video of me getting 5, 8' rips cut in 1 min they were all with in 1/64 of each other.  another video was shot of 2 different width rips being called out  and cut in 1:27  more for fun than anything.  the only reason I am sharing at this time is i think that they may make Ron's very well thought out system even better.

And Ron I think your system is really smart [thumbs up].

I believe that the benchmark table is fairly new.  It popped up on another forum about 6 weeks ago and I think that one of their members might be doing a review at some time.  I will keep an eye out.

Peter

Edit:  a review of that table is in the works for Tools of the Trade.

THe Walko is a great bench and we enjoyed selling them in Canada.

We would have considered taking over the distributorship after the old distributor closed down but lacked the space to store a container full of benches.

Bert (Walko inventor) is a great guy and more then willing to ship across the pond and we will gladly assist customers if you are not comfortable importing to North America.

Right now, we are bursting at the seams in our tiny store and just trying to keep up with orders on our other lines

always was interested in the walko....but the price  [blink]

For us it was the price of shipping those benches. Those Bamboo tops were very, very, very heavy.
