There was a thread here a little while ago on approaches to building a crosscut sled that used the sliding table mitre slot—there were a couple of suggestions as to what material to use for the mitre bar, with one preference being expressed for bamboo.
It seems as though the preferred method was to use the sliding table’s own mitre bar locks to clamp the sled onto the table, then move the table with sled attached.
Are many folks here using sleds? It would seem in theory at least as though the combination of the sliding table and the stock mitre bar would render the need for such a sled redundant—with the possible exception of very small pieces—is this not the case?
