Crown Moulding - Installation

Good morning everyone. I have been asked to install crown moulding in a 16'x15' room with 4 inside corners and 1 outside corner. The client will pay for  the materials but has asked me to get it ready for painting. I will be using poplar, not MDF. The angles for the corners of the room range from 88 - 92 degrees, same for the walls to the ceiling angle. As I have never quoted crown moulding for a room, only for tops of cabinets and built ins, I was wondering if someone could share approx how they would quote this. The crown will have a vertical distance of 3.5" on the wall and 3.5" on the ceiling. Thanks in advance.

When you say "paint ready" do you mean caulk/putty/prime?

Of course different place different pay.
I would estimate 1 day for the work

I'm perplexed at how a room can have 4 inside corners and one outside corner. Like a high school math problem. $4.00 a linear foot, plus $25.00 per miter. I think I read that here somewhere.

On a small crown like that don't worry about the wall to ceiling angle. It just complicates things and is way overkill. I have seen the crown tables and formula that take that into account, but it is really not necessary.

Can be done with a 1ft. bump on the 15ft. side.

In case you haven't seen it before, here's a good article in JLC Gary Katz putting up crown.

Link fixed

Wouldn't that make 5 inside corners?
BTW The link is not right

Sorry 'bout that.

Here's a link to the PDF of the article.

On that small of a project I am figuring it on a time basis.  It would take me more time to set up and break down than actually cutting and hanging the crown.  We run MILES of crown at anywhere from 1.25-3.00 / LF.  Granted, this is almost always paint grade MDF.

Honestly, if I was bidding this job, I would pad it for labor for 2 carpenters for 8 hours.

Finish early, go fishing...

Thanks, Tim, but I'm getting a server error when trying to open this PDF. Maybe I can find it some other way.

Good point. Sorry, It's five inside corners and one outside corner. There is a heating vent that runs up one corner of the room. Sorry for the confusion and thank you for your help on the pricing.

Thanks for the info. I like the idea of padding the price, finishing early and getting paid to go fishing. Sounds like a plan.

Thanks to everyone for there suggestions on price.
Tim, the link to Gary's PDF file doesn't work. I keep getting a server error on their end.

Sorry, but the link works for me. This is copyrighted content so I won't attach it here.
If you go to the article page I linked to and click on the PDF link at the top of the page that might work for you.
Other than that, you could sign up for an online membership to JLC online. I have no affiliation but for me the content is very good.

Gary's Installing Crown DVD's is very good.
