Crude but effective!

Hi All

Been hanging a lot of oak veneered doors lately into existing door frames. I like to keep hinge type standard so made a crude little jig for the hinges. It rebates them out very cleanly and saves a lot of time and sharpening not to mention that the foredge on these types of doors isn't the best to work with.
30mm guide bush, 12mm cutter in the OF1010 and Trend corner cutter.

I usually make one long mdf strip with 3 cutouts the exact size of the hinges. Then use a bearing template bit in the router. The jig can just be screwed flush to the linings and I add a fence for the door so I can clamp to the door. Works well, I've never liked those crappy Trend jigs prefer to make my own temporary jigs

Don't get me wrong I like the big trend jig for new doors and frames.
I only do the jig as a single hinge so I can reuse the existing frame check outs, I either make a template / rod or cut and fit the door, put it in place and mark the hinge locations.

I've done the same.

Yep no need for a hinge jig to be complex.
Just simple and effective and easy to make another if it gets lost or damaged.
