Crystal sandpaper?

I received 5 sheets with a new ES-125, but fortunately I have an RO-125 to use them on. I am not sure when it would make sense to use Cristal with the ES-125. Can anyone out there suggest situations where the Cristal should be used in random orbital mode?

It is more aggressive at sanding at a given grit. This is not only to be used in the rotary mode, nor just made for the Rotex.
Hopefully, this paper should be availble soon.

I just got a new rotex 150 in the mail and it came with a sampling of the cristal sandpaper. Haven't used it yet but I will give some details once I have had a chance to use it.

Crystal paper has fewer grains of whatever grit size is on the paper than others.  It is designed so it will not load up as readily but will also leave more scratch marks for a given grit size than the more common Brilliant or Rubin.  It works great for rapid carving work and for removing old finishes as long as you know that you will need to follow up with the more traditional papers to remove the scratch marks.

I have been using Sahpir for rapid removal a material jobs (such as all the old finish on my cedar cabin).  How does Crystal compare to Saphir?

Frank,

The Saphir paper is a way heavier paper than the Cristal, with better edge retention. Actually, Saphir's backing is cloth, not paper and much sturdier when sanding material that would otherwise destroy other papers...and pads. The Cristal wiill be available for the 6", 5" and  1/4 sheest Festool sanders. Bothh are very aggressive.

Thanks Bob, I am happy with the Saphir but am always on the lookout for something better.  It looks like, for the type of job that I am talking about, Saphire is still superior.
