CT 36 AC for ash removal

Wondering what would be the best set up for cleaning ash out of my coal stove and bbqs. Should I use the AC mode without a filter bag or the self cleaning bag with the AC off?

I would not use it without a bag under any circumstances aside from picking up water, period.

Sparktritian, what see up do you use for drywall dust? Festool recommends no bag with ac mode.

There are open top bags as opposed to filter bags.

What's the difference to the vac between and open top bag and no bag?

The bag contains the debris for removal. Otherwise, none that I can think of.

I don't have the AC model.  I do use a bag with both the CT 22 and CT Mini models that I do have.

Exactly!!!  Even at that, I still shovel out the woodstove before using the El Cheapo ShopVac to finish the job.

I, personally, don't like to vacuum ashes.

I think it's counterproductive because any method I've tried produces more stink in the room than I had.

I am a strong proponent of shoveling and sweeping as opposed to vacuums.

I'm completely open to alternatives but I haven't found any vacuum that can contain the stink. I have very effective olfactory senses - perhaps, overly sensitive, so please consider that in this testimony.
