CT 36 Clogs up on Plane Shavings

The compact cleaning set is cheap and awful. I'm surprised it says Festool on the box.
If you're going to buy a 36mm hose get the Tradesman's cleaning set - it has a 3.5m x 36mm AS hose, stainless steel vac. tubes and high quality brushes and vac. tools that's all in a SYS-5. This set turns any Festool CT in to a very good vacuum cleaner. It will easily cope with planer or Forstner bit shavings too.

I agree completely, I can't believe I paid $94 for that piece of junk.  Not only is the product junk but it's like a puzzle trying to get it to fit into the Sys 1.  I have to look at the picture on the lid every time I put it away.  Again, I wish I could have returned it and bought the tradesman.

This was one of my first FT.... And hence I got an early dose of "not everything green is good".

Now I use an old steel Miele job after the vacuumed sucketh no mo, which the hose comes out of, but the thing is a sturdy old Unit that holds the floor brush.

I agree with Birdhunter. Plane shavings are not meant for a vac bags. Yesterday I put a 4 sided micro taper on 4 legs (4x4) of a cypress garden bench. I used a hand plane. Within 20 minutes I was literally knee deep in shavings. I swept them out the door and picked them up with the lawn mower. This is not uncommon. I can't imagine how many bag changes I'd go through if I used my 26.

with the planer, given it spews out more wood chips that I seem to feed it, you might think about the Oneida Cyclone to go on top.    If your planer is one of the Jet Engine sounding lunchbox planers, the 50mm hose may be the way to go.
That or a queen pillow clamped to the end of the exit.
