Good Morning Group,

I have an older CT 48 that has lost some suction power recently. I’m the second owner and I’ve been vigilant about maintaining the filter and changing the bags.
My question, has anyone replaced the turbine on their CT?  Have any recommendations on how or where to look for replacement motors?
The rest of the extractor is in pretty good shape so I don’t want to replace the whole unit.
Thanks all

Welcome to the FOG!

Just thinking out loud, I don't currently own a Festool dust extractor...if the loss of suction is only slight, it could be an air leak.  Is there any damage to the sealing surface around the power head / tub?

It could also be dust laydown inside the fan unit.  A good blow out with an air lance might clear it.  I've done this with my old Dyson vacuum cleaner with good results - but that's not a Festool CT!!!

Regards
Bob

It appears the same turbine is used in all of the various CT 48 versions. Part number 10568453 and it costs $171.90 directly from Festool service.

Also interesting is that the same turbine is used in all of the CT 48's CT 36, CT 26, CT 25 and CT 15 versions.

I have an old CT 26 which has started sounding a bit rough. I opened it up a few days ago and found that the motor/turbine is made by Domel, a quick Google shows that the same turbines are used by Mirka and Karcher etc. I'm in the UK and here they look to be available on Amazon for half the price that Festool are charging.

26, 36 and 48 are just the same thing on top of different sized bin. But I wouldn't expect the 25 and 15 to share the same too.

22,33,44 and 55 (and probably 11 too) had the same with identical parts.

Ya that surprised me also. Even the newer Mini I & Midi I use the same 10568453 turbine.

Are the brushes replaceable?
Yes.

As per earlier discussions, the turbines are suppossed to be good for 3-4 brush cycles. Each cycle about 1000-ish work hours assuming "standard"*
workload.

*whatever is meant by that ...

As for suction loss, a dying turbine can be noticed by major vibration/"deep" sound of the vac. The bearings get wobble and this shows by the drummy sound of the vac.

Brushes are self-disabling on Festool CTs, so dead brushes would represent with the turbine not even starting.
