CT hose RFID necessary?

I want to try to use a bigger hose on my CT15. I don’t really want to buy a 37mm hose for $230. Anyone use a non festool hose on a CT? I read the end has a RFID which tells the dust collector the diameter so it can “optimize” performance.
 
I've never heard anything like that?

The real thing you need to pay attention to about hoses is the anti-static factor. You'll get tired of getting shocked real quick.
The more cost-effective way to buy a 36mm hose is to get the Craftsman cleaning set. It gets you the hose itself, the wands and several brushes, and a Systainer to store it in. (or sell off, and recover some of the cost)
 
This Bosch hose works fine with Festool vacs. Has the advantage of being cheap and the diameter will take the Festool 36mm tool ends just take off the end and screw the 36mm on

It is not anti static but I don’t use it for sanding just router and saw collection. The Festool 36mm tool fits over the saw and router exhaust port

I find bigger diameter hoses a bit too bulky for sanding work and they don’t really help with extraction and prefer to use the smaller diameter Festool hose.

Agreed. A larger hose helps nothing with tools like the sanders, jigsaws, and Domino Joiners. I use a short 36mm hose on the Kapex.

I used the standard 27mm hose for my previous T75.
 
I've used a Ridgid hose with mine. The CT15 doesn't come with the anti static hose and I'm not sure it even has the grounding contacts to utilize the anti static hose if you used one.

Mine is dedicated to the Kapex, so it is always turned up all the way.

What do you intend to use it for?  If it's sanding, a bigger hose can be really clunky and unpleasant to work with.

It works pretty well and I get a lot more airflow on tools with larger ports than just the 25/27mm port on my sander.  I think it would work better if I just had the Flexiport hose hanging from the ceiling.
 
I’m looking at the Rockler stuff right now. They sent me a click right kit for some reason so I held onto it. Looks like their shop vac hose is 1.5” ID 2mm more than the 36mm hose. I’ll have to wait until it’s on sale. I feel like when I need something to be on sale it’s not. When I don’t need anything, everything is on sale. 🤦

I want to try and maximize my ts55 extraction. But need a way to connect it to the domino. The rockler kit has both adapters.

The rigid looks like it might be worth trying out as well.

Like CRG mentioned, beware of shocks when using a non-anti static hose. I use a 22/27 tapered hose for just about everything. The routers, planer and general cleanup get a 36 mm hose while the Kapex gets a 50 mm hose.

The RFID tags allow the vac to know what hose is attached so it can correctly raise the audio alarm *airflow is too low* for meeting M class requirements.
Not sure any vacs equipped with the air flow sensor are sold in the US. So the descriptive text would be copied from the European/UK sites most likely as the hoses are all made the same.

Yes, that also means the tags are useful only for M-class vacs with air flow sensors - the CTM Midi or the CTM 26/36/48 ... etc. They have no function with a vac like CT15 where there is no airflow alarm function.

I’ll find where it is published by festool or a vendor. I definitely read it somewhere while looking at hoses.

Yep, for the CTM models. I recently looked at the docs for the CTM MIDI and it plainly states that the suction (guessing the low flow alarm, too) are based off the RFID tag of the hose being used. Apparently you can override the auto identification on the CTM MIDI.
