Hi,

I bought a CT Midi just before Christmas to beat the 2016 price increase.
I just opened the box this week and found a white gasket ring lying on top of the dust bag.
I have attached a photo of where I have it now. Is this correct?

Thank you Festool for bringing the Midi back to Canada!

Mine is on site at the moment and i will have a look tomorrow at mine. I don't remember seeing one previously on mine when emptying the bags.
What dust bag are you using?  If it is the long life filter bag, there is a plastic part on that. I wonder if it has come off and stuck to your inlet pipe?

Hi Carlb40,

Its not a longlife bag, just the regular disposable.
Thanks for your help.

Doug

Just had a quick look at my Midi (230V GB) and I don't have a gasket there.

However EKAT (the spare parts system) does seem to show a gasket in that position in the diagrams.

My US model does not have one. It does have a little lip though. I see one in ekat as GarryMartin also stated.

The gasket fits in a groove on the inside of the CT were it can’t be seen. I believe someone in our service department has contacted the OP.

Brad from Festool service told me the gasket goes on the inside of the motor housing so the gasket is probably just a spare.
I've had the vac for two weeks and haven't opened up the housing so mystery solved.
Thanks to everyone for your help.

But it could also be that it's not a spare but that the original was never seated properly and that's why it fell out. Did you discuss this possibility with the Festool service person?

Thanks. I will ask Festool if its ok to open up the housing without voiding the warranty and see if there is a gasket inside.

Just to update.
I did open the motor housing and saw that there was no gasket inside.
The gasket is now installed correctly.
Must have fallen out during assembly as [member=5277]Alex[/member] had suggested. Thank you very much!
Thanks to Brad at Festool Service and everyone else for your replies too.

Hi Doug, I noticed from this post that you opened the motor housing. I have purchased a 2nd had unit and want to remove the hose garage and top hood to clean properly.

Is there anything I should look out for when I open the housing?

Thanks

Malcolm

[member=11556]doug_m[/member] Thank you for posting!

I just replaced my CT MINI's cracked hose garage and that same white o-ring appeared out of thin air!  I needed your photo to properly put humpty dumpty back together again.

PRO TIP: reassemble your CT & hose garage upside down!  I only realized how to route wires and the foam padding after considerable manipulation of the whole assembly.
